We are just starting to plan our vacation for November, 2008. We have two 10-year-olds and a 4-year-old. Our 10yo son is in a w/c. We need a resort that offers a suite with two bedrooms or one large bedroom and a pull-out in another separate room. Any advice?

What is your price range: value, moderate, or deluxe?

Have your considered a DVC villa?

Suites in the deluxe hotels are easily $1,500 a night...they are very nice, and spacious, but yikes! It's pricey...but then you also get concierge service.

If we were to do it again, and needed a suite, we'd rent DVC points and stay in one of the villas. You could probably get similar amount of space MUCH less expensively.

The one-bedroom princess suite at the Polynesian is about $750 a night at the moment (not sure about the rest of the year). It has a bedroom with 2 beds and a "living room" with a fold-out couch. It has a great view of the castle and includes concierge service. It's also right near the mini-lounge in Tonga, so it's easy to step out the door for snacks :goodvibes

Another alternative to the Family suites at the all-stars may to just get 2 connecting rooms at any of the Values. At almost any resort, 2 connecting rooms usually ends up running less than a suite.

Forgive my ignorance ... all the abbreviations, etc. are a little overwhelming on here. :-) So, do I understand this right ... folks have time shares at actual "on property" locations in WDW, and I can rent from them rather than renting from WDW?

We stayed at Boardwalk Villas that last time (and only) time we were there in 2002 and loved it. We need to have a refrigerator and microwave due to my son's diet and special needs. Other than that, I guess adjoining rooms would do. I have never thought about that. Although we don't want to break the bank on the trip, we are not going to "save money." We have only done this once in the past and don't plan on doing it very often, so we want to enjoy ourselves.

You can rent "points" from the owners, but the actual unit rentals go through WDW. When DVC (Disney Vacation Club) owners purchase, they purchase a certain number of points per year that they can use however they want. If they aren't going to use them all in a particular timeframe, they often sell or "rent" them to others.
