I live in Santa Clarita and I can see Magic Mountain out my bedroom window. There are no freeway closures at this time, but if you want to know about the area, you can go to this site http://www.santa-clarita.com/ for updates about fires in the area. The air was MUCH better today here, even though I know there are still fires in the area.

Thanks to everyone for your info. Had I not checked this board I would've been in trouble. I do not live in California and am not familiar with all of the towns, have not had much time to watch TV, and was not too concerned with my vacation coming up in 4 days. After reading your reports, particularly those about staying away from San Diego, I started checking into things. I finally was able to reach a representative of my resort near Escondido and was told that it was closed until the 29th and they would have someone call me--the night before check-in. I'm not even sure what good that would do. My reservation was through RCI so I was able to cancel and get my money back. I also managed to get a hotel we have stayed in before across the street from Disneyland. I had a little stress there for a while, but imagine if I'd shown up on Saturday with nowhere to stay! Apparently neither the resort nor RCI was up to contacting me to let me know the resort was closed. That'll teach me to be more proactive! All is well now though, so thanks!

When I put "5" into their search field, I got construction as well as the info about the truck tunnel closure around Santa Clarita, so it does look like they would update if 5 (or other highways) closed b/c of fires.

Disneyland (and Knotts) are in urban areas pretty far from the wilderness areas and the edges of the wilderness areas where the fires are occurring. The fires would have to burn through miles and miles and miles of suburban landscape to get to Disneyland....so stop freaking out, people! There may be air quality issues, but I wouldn't cancel a trip I'd spent months planning and lots of $$$$ on.

It's not a matter of DL burning to the ground or our cars catching on fire... it's having to deal with all the gunk while there. I have an 8 month old son and since I'm just in Vegas and go every year, I'd rather go when I can have the best time. Personally, I don't mind dealing with a bit of smoke, but I don't want ash falling into my food.

I work for a travel website. Several major airlines have enacted a "Flex Policy" for any flights going into, out of, or connecting through San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Ontario, Burbank and Palm Springs. Basically, this means that they are waiving their normal exchange fees if you choose to delay your trip for as many as 7 days. I called to inquire about our flights, On both American and Continental, and was told they would waive the exchange fees if we chose to leave the following Friday. We are currently scheduled to leave on the 2nd of November. For those flying into the area, this may be an option you could look into if you are very concerned.
I did call Disney guest services to see what they are reccomending to guests and what the conditions were like. I was told that they are not experiencing any ash or smoke in the air, but the smell of fire is evident. Since we are lucky and have a week to think about it we plan at this time to go as scheduled. After so much anticipation, I just don't think I could bear to wait another week to go. When you look at having to change our vacation time at work, shuttles from the airport, hotel reservations, dinner reservations, and flight bookings, plus having to wait another week, we'd rather deal with the smoke and have a quiet week in the park.

I hope all of you who live in or are visiting the area are doing well. My husband just got dispatched to the San Diego area early Monday morning. I am in Oregon so all I know of the fire is what I see on the news. It looks heart breaking.

OMG! Where did you get this pic? These are the houses right next us. If the pic panned to the right, just bit, you could see our condos along the grove. This pic shows what we woke up to yesterday. All is fine here now, aside from the smoke and ash coming from the canyon!

Sending tons of prayers for those still being affected!!

OP, I would go to DL! We are going to the Hallowene Treat on Thurs.

DS7 had to use his nebulizer and inhaler EVERY night when we visited DL in July. At home, he might use it once every other month or so.

I wouldn't cancel if it were just dh and myself, but kids and people with respiratory problems shouldn't be there.

Hopefully a big rain storm will come help out soon. What happened to that cloud seeding we used to hear about when I was a kid?

I hope every one is safe and i pray for those that have lost in a fire. I lost in a fire like 3 years ago. It was old electricity and I had left stove on. god i felt dumb. im just blade no one got hurt.

We live in Las Vegas and were planning to go this weekend too. Plus, it is Nevada Admissions Day on Friday, and there is no school. We were hoping to catch a not-too-crowded day on Friday. What do those of you living near Disneyland think? Smart to come or better to stay home and out-of-the-way?

Many of the homes affected are in hilly canyon areas and now that everything has burned, if we get a lot of rain, you'll be seeing landslides next.

The chart linked below should help give you an idea of what we're looking at right now as far as air quality. You'll notice even the experts have pulled forecasts for tomorrow for the fire affected areas. Too many variables I suppose.

I am as confused as before I spoke to her!
She said DL can not make any advisories, but DL is not in danger at this time, but you could get stuck if you fly in. What does that mean? She said that's what they are telling people. Huh??? I asked her if the roads are closed, she said not all of them but traffic is very heavy. She said the other amusment parks had been evacuated but not DL. Not very helpful, but I understand her situation. She cant tell me "YES COME" or "NO STAY HOME".

I dont think I want to go tomorrow...

I would go. I would not fear the actual fire but the air quality is going to be
B-A-D! Just an FYI: my friends evacuated San Diego and went to DL. They are fine. It is BAD don't get me wrong, but Anaheim is fine.
