GREAT NEWS!!! I just saw on one of my many Disney FB groups that BOG has opened up reservations during the days it was supposed to be closed (the week of August 19). For months I've not been able to get anything and had resigned myself to having to skip eating at BOG on our trip. But this morning I hopped onto MDE and scored:

- pre-park Breakfast at 8:05 am on the 23rd
- Lunch at 11 am (first lunch of the day) on the 21st
- Dinner at 5:30 pm on the 23rd

Now, which one do I keep? We'd been hoping for dinner before they announced it would be becoming a prix-fixe menu. I really want to meet the Beast and want some of the grey stuff. BUT I worry it's now going to be too expensive for our family, not to mention too "much" for our kids. I like the idea of pre-park breakfast, but have heard it's overpriced for what it is.

So, fellow DISers, please advise!

I haven't been for breakfast or dinner, but thought I'd put in my two cents about lunch. I really enjoyed it. It's a la carte instead of a prix fixe with a flat price. I had the Croque Monsieur and really liked it. The strawberry cupcake was the best part, though. Highly recommend. One friend told me to get it instead of the Grey Stuff (Master's Cupcake) and I'm so glad I did. For the same or similar price as another QS, you get a great setting you can't get anywhere else. If you're planning on another QS that day, there's really no harm in keeping it in addition to one of the others. They haven't price gouged lunch yet. ;)

The 21st is also Extra Morning Magic so not sure if there is a benefit to having a ppo ADR. Curious to see others experiences at BOG when EMM is going on.

If we didn't have CRT already booked I would want to try the lunch. I've done the breakfast and it was not great. Right now I have the breakfast booked, but we might cancel. And no way am I paying $70 for my kids not to eat the dinner. If we were two adults I would be willing to try the dinner.

Sorry, I mixed up the dates! PPO breakfast is on the 23rd and lunch is on the 21st. Fixed it. Thanks for the insight about dinner! That's kinda what I was thinking too...

Oh, good to know you can get the Grey Stuff at lunch! For some reason I thought it was only at dinner!

We have done BOG for lunch 6 or 7 times in the past 4 years. I love the lunch. It's a nice break during the day and I love the atmosphere. We've dined in each themed room at least twice. My daughter loves the west wing best with the rose and the changing portrait. We used to get the carved turkey sandwich or the croque monsieur and both are great but now we just love the braised pork with carrots and mashed potatoes and green beans. Of course we always get the masters cupcake to enjoy the grey stuff! I have a trip coming up in January and we will be doing lunch one daughter at BOG and also trying out dinner on a different night. We have never done dinner there before and decided to try it even try hough it's now prie fixe menu.

The grey stuff is only on top of the Master's cupcake at lunch, which is a basic chocolate cupcake. Be aware, the cupcake is pretty small. For dinner there have been different variations of it over the years; in a long tarte, in a round tarte, I'm not sure what it's like now.

We like BOG for lunch, but after they took the roast beef sandwich off the menu and replaced it with the french dip, I haven't been as impressed. The braised pork is good though and some of my family always enjoys the croque monseiur.

I would only go to the pre-park breakfast so that I can get on 7DMT earlier and not for the food.
Lunch was pretty good and a better option than other counter services in MK.

I would do the dinner. We are going next week so haven't tried the new menu, but the old menu was just miles better at dinner than at breakfast or lunch. The price is what it is -- we view disney restaurant prices as more of a special event ticket than an actual value for what you get food-wise. Still MUCH less for both kids and adults than the price of one the dessert parties, and at least at BOG you get a full meal!

I have only done breakfast and dinner (before it went prix fixe). We did dinner twice, once it was not good and once it was pretty good. Based on your concerns for cost, I would eliminate that one. Breakfast was mediocre and if paying OOP way over priced. The appeal of PPO is strong for me as well and was the main reason we did it because it saved us needing to get a FP for 7DMT. I have read positive things about lunch and many people feel it is the best meal there. So, if food is your priority, I would go with lunch. If PPO experience is your priority, then go for breakfast.

IMHO It is not Great News. It is hoarding hard to get, popular ADRs. I know not everyone agrees, but I truly think it is selfish and I feel bad for folks who can’t get what they want because Iof it.

I'm sure the reason they are asking for advise is so the other 2 can be dropped back into the pool. I personally don't see a problem with this while you are trying to make a decision. Because it's hard to get, if they wait until the decision is made, there may be no ADR to get. The other 2 meals will still be bookable by somebody. To me, it's only really hoarding if you never cancel your duplicates giving nobody an opportunity to ever pick them up.

I have to admit that was my first reaction as well. But hopefully OP will decide quickly and dump the others soon so others can make their plans concrete with enough time prior to the day before BOG, when most people dump the extras. I don't agree with hoarding ADRs and definitely not until the day before.

Seriously?? She says she just grabbed them and is looking for advice on which to do. I don't think a few hours of deliberation constitutes hoarding.

I would suggest keeping the lunch ADR. I am another vote for the braised pork. Yum!!

And no, OP is not hoarding. I have also made multiple ADRs for the same place in the past so I could then check with travel companions to figure out which works best. I think some folks who plan just for their family don't realize how much more difficult it can be when trying to coordinate adults with a mind of their own, lol. I have had plans felled in the past by a rogue FP+ made by a friend who didn't realzie the impact it would have on other plans for the day.

Thanks for your input! No, definitely not hoarding ADR's here. We get there on the 19th and I'm trying to finish getting our days planned out. I picked one of each since they were available, now just trying to figure out which one will work best for our FP/schedule/other ADR's/wallet.

I'm heading down next week and will be there at the time these reservations were released. While writing about my lunch there, I remembered how much I enjoyed it and decided to make a lunch reservation myself. So thanks for the tip! I'll be there on the 24th. Then an evening at California Grill. It's going to be a good food day!

I just got the Mouse Dining text that reservations opened up. I got a lunch reservation on my birthday (only booked one reservation).

We prefer lunch because we like the menu, and we will want to get out of the heat after morning touring. I am glad the restaurant will be open that week!

This is always a hot topic on the boards, and for good reason. There are many, many people who hoard ADRs all the way up until the day before, which is why you can find a lot of hard to get ressies at the last minute. It's no wonder why people get upset.
Not picking at OP, but her own post
.....For months I've not been able to get anything and had resigned myself to having to skip eating at BOG on our trip.....
Shows how much she wanted one, but unable to find one prior to today. That's due in part to hoarding of other people.

Also,
....I just saw on one of my many Disney FB groups that BOG has opened up reservations during the days it was supposed to be closed (the week of August 19)....
which means that probably a lot of other people on those group are trying for ADR's. I can see how hanging onto 3, even if for a short time, can ruffle feathers.

My trips are always planned with adults and we always have our schedule set before ADR's open so there is no going back and forth. There have been times where some have backed out of ADR's, but the rest of us kept them and adjusted the number of people prior to the reservation. I can see how the OP's situation is different, as she was just made aware of the open ADR's today.

Good to know that wasn't your intention. Not that it's any our our business, lol! Everyone can do what they like. Including sharing opinions on here.... which there are A LOT of!

Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for breakfast. If I had to choose, I would pick dinner. But in staying in line with your not wanting to pay a ton of for dinner, you should absolutely go for lunch. Its a lovely air conditioned place where you can relax with decent food.

I don't think you are hoarding reservations if you are in the process of trying to decide. As long as you release what you aren't using, then its not hurting anyone. Its so hard sometimes trying to decide the best dining time for you and your family. I think more people do it than they care to admit. You see an open reservation, you grab it and then have to rework plans.

Enjoy!
