Boy, was it good! If anyone wants to see a great movie that has good plot twists, go see it!

After seeing Jocquin Phoenix in Signs, I was looking forward to seeing him in this movie. He was great! Actually, all the acting was good...

I can't wait to see The Village too, mostly because I loved Signs and Joaquin Phoenix is a good excuse:)

This is encouraging! The reviews I've read have not been so great overall. We are supposed to see it tomorrow so my enthusiasm has been renewed. Thanks! Joaquin Phoenix is my favourite actor anyway so how can I go wrong? :D

We're going to see this at the drivein if the weather holds out this weekend.

I can't wait to see it! A friend of mine is in the movie, her name is Mel. She holds a doll and then buries it...she doesn't talk though...anyways I can't wait!

You're really lucky to still have a drivein theater in your area. From the previews, this looks like a good scary movie to see at the drivein. :scared1:

I'm so gald to hear this! I'm going to see it tonight, I'm so excited!!!!!

DD thinks she wants to see it, but she's kind of a chicken when it comes to scary movies. On a scale of one to ten with Alien being a six and The Exorcist a ten, where would you put The Village?

Please tell us how scary/suspensful it is. I had to sleep with the lights on for 2 nights after Signs and Sixth Sense. Is it comparable to this? Less? More? I want to see it, but I'm a bit of a chicken, too! :(

I'm a big chicken too, but I really want to see this one! I don't know if I can do it!! I really want to know what's in the woods! We are going out tomorrow night, so we'll see! I'm glad you all liked it!

Just saw it. On a scare scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 4. I don't want to say too much and give away any plot. I must say, Ron Howard's daughter was wonderful.

Wow I just found this! I posted another thread a few minutes ago!

It's not as eery as the others, not by a longshot. Signs and 6th Sense hit on things we can somewhat relate to, this does not.

Bryce Dallas Howard was AMAZING! Her Dad must be PROUD! She is no doubt the next IT girl!

I don't do horror.

I definitely wouldn't classify The Village as horror. There are tense scenes but it isn't your typical horror movie. It's really a very deep, thought provoking movie that has a scary idea at its core.

I would also give it a 4 out of 10 on the Scary Meter and add my positive review of Bryce Dallas Howard...she was terrific!

So glad to see so many responses! Bryce Dallas Howard really was amazing wasn't she?

I would give it a 4 too - I took my 12 year old and he was fine. It is more suspenseful than scary and if anything, younger children will not understand the finer nuances and plot twists...

It's one of those movies that you walk away and it sticks with you for awhile... :)

I give it a huge thumbs up!!! I luved it!!! Saw it earlier 2nite...great movie!!!

I thought it was really lame. I won't give anything away but I was pretty disappointed in the twists. It did not live up to Signs or Sixth Sense for me. My DH and DS19 both thought it was pretty good, though.

I have to say that we did discuss the deeper meanings all the way home. I just didn't like it near as much as his previous films.

I am a big baby when it comes to scary or suspenseful movies, but I had no problem with this one. It really wasn't very scary.

I do agree that Bryce Howard was good.

5 of us went to see it and only 1 liked it (me). Everyone was very disappointed, they said it wasn't scary and it was stupid. It held my attention, what can I say I fell asleep during Spiderman.

Yes, we're lucky to have a drive in for $7.00 a person we got to see 2 movies. The second feature was I ROBOT, I thought it was a good movie too. Will Smith is a hottie. :p

We saw it last night, and we loved it. It is definitely not a horror movie, nor even really scary. I thought it was totally not the movie I thought I was going to see, which made it even more interesting.

My son saw it lastnight and said it was good....until the end. Then he said, in his words "it sucked!"

So....now I'm not so sure I'm willing to waste additional $$ on it.

Maybe I'll just wait for it to come out on DVD.
