They have all grown up now, including comments about Harry needing to shave.

Helena Bonham Carter really does a good job of 'crazy freaky'

Without giving away any of the differences between the book & the film, they really let some of the characters show more emotional range than before.

Would you recommend it? I mean I am going to see it anyway...but was it worth the hype?

There is a lot of teenage angst - does he love me? sort of stuff.

some funny bits, one scene made the audience jump / scream. Not as much of a scare as last time but still very dark

went last night to the midnight showing and I think it's the best one since #1...it had a great mix of comedy, drama, and love, it was much truer to the book (even though my favorite scene in the book was cut out) than 5, or even 4 was, but I've tried to stop comparing the books and movies...I think the films have to be held to their own standards...also think they did a good job setting up both parts of 7...i'll prob go see it again before weeks out

My kids and their friends also went to the midnight show last night and really liked the movie but all agreed that many parts of the book were not included that they felt were important to the story line, but on the other hand -- there were some scenes that were done much differently than the book. So as mentioned, just go to see it for the entertainment value of the movie...not to compare it to the book.

I don't know how it was in other cities, but our local theater had a few people that camped out the night before and by 7pm the line was wrapped all the way around the building. Everyone was having a great time and the kids were all really well behaved. :goodvibes

As a reading teacher, I think it is awesome that the kids are having these discussions about the movie and how it is when compared with the book version. I love doing this in my class during the school year and it really helps build analytical skills. The excitement over the books and films has been wonderful for so many kids across different grade levels.

We're going to see it tomorrow night and I cannot wait! I'm beyond excited to see the next installment. Add Twilight in November and I am one happy girl! :)

I'll be going to see the movie in about a month or so. Can't stand being in the theater when it's packed.

We're just back from the movie. I liked the movie. I was not a fan of some of the changes they made in some parts, but others were incredible. There is an additional scene at the beginning that I particularly liked that was only alluded to in the book. DW is definitely a book purist and was somewhat disappointed. She did say that she particularly liked the job the actors were doing. Even if she disagreed with some of the adaptation choices, she thought the actors were true to the characters.

Overall it was quite good.

I saw it last night!

there is a store near me in santa monica, Whimsic Alley, it's an ALL Harry Potter store, and they sold tickets to an 8pm showing last night.

It was awsome!

And I hope that Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) doesn't get paid! She gets enough perks gettin' to kiss on Harry!

But as far as the adaptation, it wa good. then again, anything is a better adaptation than Prisoner of Azkaban.

There was a lot of, "That didn't happen in the book" and a lot of emphasis on the relationships (which has to be done, but I wanted more horcrux back story.) I am a fanboy though, so I still loved it. I am a huge Snape fan so this should've been my favorite movie in terms of seeing him, but I was missing that. Malfoy did wonderful at his part and I love who they picked for Narcissa.

Daughter was disappointed. Said that movie made way too many changes from the book. Significant changes like death eaters came and burned down the burrow. Didn't happen in the book. I don't know why these directors think that they have to take poetic or artistic license to feed their own ego.

I really enjoyed the movie. There were some great scenes left out that I felt should have been there. But I have to say the majority of the movie was very true to the book. More so than most of the others. My DH though was very annoyed at what was left off. He said the first half of the movie was fantastic, an he could overlook what wasn't there, but the second half changed that. He was very disappointed with the end.

Just FYI, they went to JK Rowling to approve that scene and understands why they had to add it...she is very controlling over her property and has a pretty strong hand in things concerning it...I know EA (creators of the HP video games) have to get clearence from her if they want to add new spells that aren't in the books

That being said, I wish they would have put another scene in that spot...or at least made it longer

My husband and I watched the movie last night. I tolded my husband that if I had not read the book that I would love the movie. I loved how it all came together. What was great? The acting, the graphics, and the flow of the stroy, but I was disappointed that they did not hold true to the book. They had added to many scenes that did not belong (like at the burrow) and skiped a lot information that was important. Do not want to ruin it for anyone who has not read the book or seen the movie. Of course I may just have to watch it again to make sure. :rotfl:

I agree a lot of stuff changed. I'm not entirely happy the relationship between Fleur and Charlie disappeared.

But it's almost like they make the movies so, if you haven't, you'll want to read the books. I hope.

.

I read somewhere that they are starting the next movie with the last scene of the sixth book (you who have read the book know what I'm talking about :rolleyes1) and then moving into Bill and Fleur's wedding. :thumbsup2

They'll have a lot of explaining to do...

I hate that they left out the scene with the Dursleys at the beginning the most...i think it's pretty pivitol as far as the whole love protection thing goes

I purposely did not re-read the book before seeing the movie last night. As I watched the movie, bits of the book came back to me, but by having no expectations, I found the movie to be pretty fantastic!

I plan to go back and re-read the book now that i've seen the movie...just to fill in the gaps!

Good move on your part. DD had just reread the book in the days leading up to the movie -- so everything was fresh in her mind and therefore she noticed a lot of changes.
