for WDW next week is calling for 3 days of rain!! We're leaving in 5 days. This will be our 3rd trip to Disney as a family and we've never encountered ANY rain. I am wondering what we do if it rains??? We do have ponchos, but I'm so worried. Any tips, ideas, suggestions???

If it rains, put the ponchos on and keep going! Rain showers haven't been lasting more than 20-30 minutes lately, and we really do need it here. Plus, the rain often chases people out of the parks because they don't realize it's likely to stop. Most attractions will not close, unless there is lightning in the area.

Oh, and the forecasters here LOVE to predict rain. It often doesn't happen.

Forecasts more than 24 hours out are not very accurate. The further out the more inaccurate. IF it rains do as the pp said, put on your ponchos and keep going, most rides are inside, so it really is no big deal.

Awesome advice posters! Here in Illinois, when it rains, it usually means rain most of the day, so I guess that is what I am used to! I plan to just keep a chuggin along and think of it as "liquid sunshine"! I guess we are pretty lucky that we haven't encountered rain thus far!

We'll be there then, too, and I refuse to worry about weather. We go every year in Jan., and I used to worry, starting with the 15 day forecast, checking every day till we leave. And the forecast has never, not ever, been right. It always changes, even right up to the night before. Sometimes the forecast for the next morning changes overnight. So I give up even deciding what to wear till that morning. In four Jan. trips, so far we've only had one morning that it was rainy, cold, and stormy enough to get in the way of touring. And even then it cleared up by afternoon.

We had one of our best days at Disneyland a few years ago when it was pouring rain for most of the day. We put on our ponchos and forged ahead. As a previous poster stated, many people will give up and go back to their hotels. Those who stay may enjoy shorter lines and less crowded walkways. Our kids thought it was great fun to walk around in the rain! If you really don't like getting a little wet, you can duck under an awning or into a counter service place to have a snack and wait it out. It's usually over before you know it and the sun comes out to dry everything up.

I would not worry it one bit. When we were there in July of 07 and just this past December we were lucky that it didn't rain but in April of 07 we had several days that it rained and we just made the most of it. Put on your ponchos and keep on having fun! Make the most of it!:woohoo:

We find that rain is almost ALWAYS forecast for our trips to Disney and we rarely encounter anything more than a brief shower. Definately bring the ponchos (and carry them with you to the park...even it's not raining when you leave. The skies over WDW have a habit of opening up, soaking you, and then stopping as quickly as it started)

Dont worry, there is plenty to do !! Bring the ponchos and just have fun! We got caught in a storm back in september - crocs dry quickly too if you have them to wear - maybe a 2nd set of clothes for little ones if its going to be really rainy. if you have strollers, you might want to bring along something to cover the stroller while you are in an attraction - its such a bummer if the stroller gets soaked!!!

Bring something to cover the stroller and some dry socks, put on the ponchos, and have fun. Do you ever remember wanting to play in the rain as a young child? Well, here's your chance.

We went during a rain storm one year. It was raining on and off the day we arrived. Since we were there only the one night, we went to the parks that day. It was hands down our best day at Disney -- ever. No crowds. No lines. I danced down Main Street with my dds and nobody was there to look at me like I had lost my mind. Even now, on rainy cloudy days, my oldest (8) will look out the window, sigh, and say, "It's a perfect Disney day."

Okay, so where do I get a stroller cover? Walmart? I've never had one before and I can see the stroller getting soaked as the only problem with the rain. I don't mind "playing" in the rain and I'm sure my kids will LOVE it!

I think they do. I couldn't say for sure though. I'm out of the stroller stage and have been for a few years now. A quick google search shows plenty of places to get one, but I have also seen people using the large, inexpensive rain ponchosas a cover.

I'm sure someone here has more (and better) info than I do.

You can get the stroller covers at Babies R' us and at Wal-mart or Target. The cheap ponchos are located in the camping section of both Wal-Mart and Target. They are much cheaper than the ones that they sell with the umbrellas. I bought a bunch at Target 2 weeks ago for our upcoming trip and they were only .97 cents each, they are folded up really small and in a plastic pouch, I think they are all clear but, who cares.

Don't let rain stop you.

We had to use our disposable ponchos once and found out they were too long for my DS. I went to a gift shop and asked to borrow a pair of scissors to shorten it. Take extra ponchos and throw them out at the end of the day. It is hard to get them to dry. Its not worth 98 cents to find a place to hang 4 of them in the room at the end of the day. You can never get them folded as small as they were when new.

Take an extra pair of shoes so you can alternate and let them dry completely! Do NOT dry your shoes with the hair dryer in the room. Lets just say that my shoes didn't stink until then!! (I hope the Tag Fairy isn't reading this part) You could take extra shoes and put them in a locker at the entrance.

Jeans take longer to dry than light weight material. You might be cold and wet in jeans in the air conditioning!

Scotch Guard, (water proof spray) back packs, camera bags, stroller seats, jackets, and anything else you might take with you.

Take one of those small towels that you buy in the automotive dept. (can't think of the name of them) to dry off your seat for outdoor rides.

I had to order a rain cover for the stroller. My Wal Mart and Target don't sell them.

Small towels might be a shammy ,great idea to Scotch guard the back packs.
Let Ziploc bags become your very close friends. It's a great way to pack your park bags and keep them dry too. We just purchased our park ponchos today we're ready.
last trip Nov 04 it did not rain the whole trip
In january is there a wind rain combo thta makes it a little chillier ? Winter rain wind combo's up here are actually worse than snow.

Hi we just returned from WDW (it seems like so long ago, sigh). Anyway our FAVORITE thing is those super large ziplock bags. The bag is really thick and even has a handle. We just pack it in the backpack and take it out whenever the weather is looking suspicious. We can put a backpack plus other jackets in it. The other summer it poured on us at Typhoon Lagoon and we had to hide out under the shelters with the lightning rods. We could see everyone else's towels and bags getting soaked on the beach chairs, but our belongings were nice and dry inside of those wonderful extra large ziplock bags. Also, if the weather is forecasting a thunder storm or big rain, I'd suggest bringing slippers (flip flops). When we were at the Studios, it was pouring, with rivers of water coursing through the "streets." Our family switched to our rubber flip flops and we just splashed through the water (our shoes were nice and dry inside of the awesome ziplock bag). . If it's warm enough, I'd wear shorts rather then jeans (I can't stand heavy, wet denim). Have fun!!!
