So we just got back from our recent trip. 3 day single park (Disneyland) pass. Terrible withdrawal now, :( Though, it was a bit of a milestone trip for us as our 6 year old daughter finally went on a "real" coaster at the park, namely, Big Thunder. The last time we rode it (and the other two, Space Mountain and Matterhorn) was in 2017, before she was even a thought in our heads, ha ha. We also went on Indiana Jones, though not real coaster in that sense, we were worried she'd freak out over the dark images on the ride. To help ease her in, I just kept making jokes and silly observations during the ride. This was her 4th trip to Disneyland, with the others being in 2019 (@ 9 montths), 2021 (@2.5 yrs), and 2023 (@ 5 yrs).

Speaking of Big Thunder, I was a bit disappointed that towards the end of the ride, when you're passing the miniature old west town/buildings, they no longer play that banjo music in the background (maybe they haven't done this in years?).

Lastly, I'm determined to stay Grand Californian next time because I'm so tired of going thru security every single time.

Glad you had a good time and kudos to your daughter!

I hate to break it to you, but guests at GCH have to go through security when exiting the hotel into DCA or into DTD.
Now, that's a perk that might be worth the prices though...no more security! 😉

Last time I rode Big Thunder(October) and passed through Rainbow Ridge, there was music

... oh and speaking of security, I was very surprised they didn't allow a small pair of folding scissors I had in my bag (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J091G0?smid=A2IGZ09LPUKLVH&psc=1). It was either taking all the way back to my hotel (which wasn't close by) or leave it there with them to "dispose of", as you can guess, I'm short a pair of folding scissors now. This was on my third and final day. The first two days it wasn't a problem.

I’d send a complaint email. That is actually an area Disney needs to clarify. TSA specifically allows blades of X length, if Disney doesn’t want to even allow any scissors at all they should specifically be listed under prohibited items. 1inch folding scissors don’t exactly jump out as qualifying as weapons.

To be fair, the security from GCH to DTD or DCA is much much much shorter/faster! But dang if it isn't outrageously expensive.

We had an issue with security also. Actually had my daughter in tears. We have a tiny folding chair for a highchair with a tray attached for my granddaughter and they wouldn't allow her to bring on the 2nd day. The guard actually left his post and followed my daughter to be sure she didnt try another security line, thats what had her most shook.
