We arrived home last night from our week long trip to Disney World. We are from California, and this was our first ever trip to the World. I want to thank everyone who answered my questions on thes boards. We had a great time thanks largely to the resourcefullness of these forums.
We frequently visit Disneyland in Anaheim, so we found ourselves comparing the two resort quite a bit. There is really no comparison. Disney World takes the cake. It is easier to get around in Disneyland becuase everything is walking distance, but we found the staff and the fellow guests to be so much more friendly in the World. We also really enjoyed the food. We were pleasantly surprised by how much better it was to dine in the theme parks in Disney World as compared to any other park we have ever been to. My wife and I are still glowing from our enjoyable trip, and wondering how soon we will be able to go back. We approached this trip as a once in a life time opportunity. I was going to Orlando for a conference, and decided to add this trip to the World on since I would be in the vicinity. We decided to spend 6 days in the parks, because it would probably be our only vacation to the World, but now we are hooked, and can't wait to get back.
Among the highlights were MGM, Epcot, and Liberty Tree Tavern. We instantly fell in love with our resort, Port Orleans, French Quarter. We can't imagine staying anywhere else. MGM staff was so friendly. I have never had so many people comment on my lanyard pins. One cast member noticed I collected Donald Duck pins, and she gave me one that she had, and would not accept anything in trade. Despite the bad publicity, we rode Rock n' Roller coaster 3 times. It seemed to be working great. We were pleasantly overwhelmed by how much there was to do at Epcot. We spent 2 days there, and still long to spend more time there. I am rambling becuase of the jet lag, so I'll end this now after one final thank you to everyone who helped me in these forums. You are too numerous to mention, but hopefully you know who you are. Thanks.

I'm sure I probably didn't help you, but wanted to welcome you back!! I'm so glad you enjoyed WDW!!! So much to do and see, I could spend weeks at a time!!!

Well, I know I didn't help you (I've never been!) but I'm glad you had a great time! :)

I'm glad you had a great trip. I'm sure I didn't help either because I'm new to the DIS boards, but I read them a lot between April and June when we went WDW for our first family trip (DH, DS18 and DS17). I'm going back for a Family Reunion in August too! Cant' wait. I am just so greatful to everyone on these boards that shares their knowledge and experiences. It made our first trip to WDW so much better knowing the tips and tricks we learned on here.

So glad you had a great trip. When I went to the world 4 years ago, I said it was "once in a lifetime". The next year I booked another trip and literally jumped up and down in the kitchen I was so happy to be going back. I skipped a year to go to Universal, but booked last year for the free dining. Now I have two upcoming trips booked. I am addicted and have resigned myself to that fact! I am just glad I only have a 2 hour flight from Philly.

I blame my addiction on my husband who suggested we go the first time. He said, "flights are cheap' let's go to Disney". I said, "Noooooo - I don't want to be around all those people". I am "crowdaphobic", but there is nothing about Disney that ever made my phobia kick in.

I just hope I can continue to visit every year!

So glad you had such a great time. I was a DL two years ago. I enjoyed it and like the idea that I could walk easily from the hotel (stayed at the Grand Californian) and completely around the park without getting too tired.

However, my heart is with WDW :cheer2: There is just so much more to do with four parks, the water parks and DTD. I've been to Epcot many times and still have not seen everything in WS. Of course, when the DS's were younger it was a punishment to go through WS but now they're older and they drag me there!! :rotfl:

We were able to "see" DL and CA in two days (actually arrived around 1PM and did CA that afternoon and evening, spent the next full day in DL, woke up the next morning and spent a little time in the shops of their DTD and then drove up the Las Vegas for a few days) and I NEVER have enough time in WDW.

Haven't "experienced" everything in WDW but I'm still trying!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah - another convert :cool1:

welcome home. Has the depression set in yet? I always get sad the first week back back at work.
