It was me (34), DH (34), DD (4), my mom (over 50) and my dad (over 60). We stayed at Beach Club from December 10 through December 16.
Not much of a trip report here - just a few little observations -
1. Cast Members are AWESOME. All of them. We didn't come across one grump while we were there. Christmas Magic? Amazing training? Brainwashing? I don't know, and I don't care - they were fantastic. It was COLD outside, and they were still smiling and having a great time. They did a massive computer system overhaul in the middle of our trip - didn't cut their stride one bit. For those of you who are reading this who are Cast Members - KU-DOS!
2. Seriously - I think there was every nationality, race and religion in all of the parks all at once...and I don't just mean in the World Showcase. I loved how kind everyone was to each other! There were manners! There were smiles! My parents and I got along! There were children *GASP* PLAYING TOGETHER! I don't know - it just made my Christmas knowing that the people of this world can, and do, get along. When it's cold and crowded...with lines. Amazing.
3. DH and I were sick - bad head colds - boxes of tissue at every turn. There were record lows in Florida during our trip. My parents came from Park City, Utah, and said that it was warmer there. The Christmas party was shivery - no one cared about the snow on Main Street because it really was cold enough to snow. Ironic, yes, festive, sort of, fun? Well, yes, ok it was, but as fun as a, say, 60 degree night with "snow" on Main Street? No. Despite the colds and the cold, we had an absolute blast. How's that for magic? Would we have had as great a time anywhere else under the same circumstances? No way!
4. Hollywood Brown Derby is AWESOME.
5. Newfound quick service treasure - Columbia Harbour House!
6. Beach Club is wonderful - lovely decor, great staff, amazing location, especially if you are into EPCOT, which we definitely are. The pool looked really really...cold. But great! No swimming this trip!
We probably won't go in December again - Florida weather is WACKY during that time of year, and if I had my way, I would choose NOT to have to bundle my 4 year old up just to take it all off when we get to the ride, just to have to bundle her up again, so on and so forth. I would rather sweat OUTSIDE than inside.
This year it's Contemporary for 10 days in November. WOO HOO! Maybe I will take the time to do an actual trip report...
Cheers!
PS - do the Fairy Godmailer thing - talk about fun! I felt like Santa Claus and Tinker Bell all rolled into one!
