My poor husband's magic band ONLY worked twice getting into the parks, during an 8 day trip. Once it worked in AK (went there twice) and once in MK (went there three times). They had to take his picture on an ipad and every time the CM with the ipad had to be called over at every park. Other than that....WE HAD A GREAT TRIP. He had issues last trip too and we ended up using his older band and that worked.

We arrived Wed. afternoon the 18th and departed Wed. night the 25th. The crowds increased on Sunday and got pretty intense around Monday. Soarin had issues one day that we had a fp, but they let us come back anytime that day/night. Test track had issues a few times too, but that didnt affect us since we had FP for Soarin that day but it did make the Soarin lines longgggggggggggggggggggg.

We saw Osborne Lights twice and the best night was Friday our 3rd there. We went again on Mondaynight and it was PACKED!!! So happy we got to see them though. I even scored some ADR's while there. We planned this trip in mid Oct. so most our faves were gone. THE BEST DAY EVER was on Tuesday at MK. We were able to eat lunch at LIBERTY TREE on their first day back open after 4 1/2 month refurb. They had WALK UPS only for their soft opending. It was DELISH. I was ecstatic to get in because we always eat there every trip. :)

Sounds like a fun trip! When you realized your DH's MB wasn't working more or less at all, is there a reason why you couldn't get him a new one issued at your resort? Just curious in case we find ourselves in a similar situation. Did they refuse to correct it or would a new band not have made a difference?

Glad you got into your favorite restaurant. We have an ADR to try lunch in January. We're looking forward to it.

This was probably not the problem, but I have read that if you have too many Magic Bands from past trips ACTIVATED In your MDE account, it could present a problem. :eek:When we return, we deactivate them.
Glad to hear the rest of your trip was enjoyable!:goodvibes

No they said because it worked for purchases, to open the room door and for fast passes it wouldn't make a difference. What was annoying was they took his pic on the iPad after it happened twice and that cast member said just tell the cm's when you try and enter that your pic is in the system, but every time they would make him try at least twice first. Then on day 5 I think it worked once then it worked on day 6 once and not on days 7 and 8.

I think it was his finger print. He even used different fingers. They tried to reset it a few times with different fingers.

I was able to grab a reservation and have dinner at Liberty Tree on Friday. I think it may have been the best meal I've ever had at Disney, and Ive had some good ones. I thought the food on this trip was a little better than it has been in the past.

To the OP......Roll Tide Roll!!

Glad the trip was a good one overall. But you do realize, I hope, that by complaining about your DHs magic band, that you'll now be branded a "hater" and disowned by half of the Disers. While the other half just nod and say BTDT. ;) BTDT.

We were just there and had the opposite problem. My DH's MB was fine for the whole trip, and my band and my DD's bands were fine for the first day. On the second day, our bands stopped working to open the rooms and for charging. Ours were fine for park entrance and FPs. The CM said the same thing that the bands weren't the issue and new bands wouldn't help. We made two trips to the front desk at SSR to try to fix the issue. The first time, we were given plastic cards as an alternative. I'm not exactly sure how using the plastic room key for charging is any more convenient than using a credit card. On the second try, the CM was able to call IT and get the issue straightened out. This was our 5th trip with MBs, and the fifth time we've had problems of some type. It's like we're wearing the MB equivalent of a "Kick Me" sign :)

WOW!!!! You really had issues! Same here with someone always having an issue. Last trip it was mine and my husband's.

I bet it was his fingerprint. I think some people either have fingers that are hard for the system to record data that can match up. DH has issues with getting his finger in just the right position each time. It's because he's a lefty and did his first finger print with his arms crossed in some awkward manner. Now if he doesn't enter that way each time he gets a blue Mickey. After so many trips he's finally getting it down right but the first park each time is an adventure.

We were there from the 20th-22nd. Osborne Lights on Friday the 20th were great - crowds weren't too crazy.

Saw tons of Alabama fans and got lots of "Roll Tide"s along the way.

Roll Tide!

Not sure if this was the OP's problem, but for us, DH's MB wouldn't work to open our room door. We went down to the front desk at AKL and the CM looked up our account and said we had too many active MBs from previous trips on file. The system only allows so many to be active at once, and we needed to bring back old ones and have them deactivated. I thought I could deactivate them in MDE (in fact, I thought I already had) but she said we had to physically bring them there to do it. Not sure I buy that. Either way, she somehow deactivated an old one in the system so she could make DH's current one active and it worked fine after that.

We had a magic band that acted up to get in/out of the parks (and that was the only problem). I didn't see mention of this but we had also gone to guest relations and they attempted on a couple tries to get it to work and then put in a problem report for the technical staff to see what they could do. We ultimately fixed it ourselves the same day by buying a new band which the technical staff refunded the price for when they called later that night after switching bands fixed our problems.

My wife's mb is currently showing that it's still active from trip two years ago. The other 3 mb aren't active from the trip. Should I call it and have it deactavated? We noticed she couldn't do the color or name on upcoming mb. But she's listed with the 6 day base pass we all have. Make sense?

We arrived on the 18th and departed the 25th. We TOO saw lots of Bama folks and said ROLL TIDE I think every single day. :) We went to the Osborne lights on the 20th too and again on the 23rd and the 20th was much better as far as crowds.

I don't think that was his issue because we all have the same amount of "past trip" magic bands and he is/was the only person with the issue.
