My DH and I have just returned from our fabulous week on the DxDP. Let me just say that we did NOT have a bad meal or bad service on this trip. I was very impressed with all the places we dined. The service and the food was wonderful. Here are the places we ate in order by favorite to least favorite:

1. LeCellier
2. California Grill
3. The Wave
4. Jiko
5. Kona
6. Chefs de France
7. Narcoosees
8. Raglan Road
9. Yak & Yeti
10. 50's Prime Time
11. Boma
12. Captain Cooks
13. Sunshine Seasons
14. The Brown Derby

Any questions, just ask!

wow great list, i love most of those!

Do you have any pics? & Did Brown Derby bomb?

Hi, I am so glad to hear your dining experiences were great! Can you please tell me a little about Kona? I will be taking my 15 yr old daughter and my 11 yr old son there next week, I think they will like it, I know I will!:) TIA

I'm so glad you had a great time. We have ressies for five of the restaurants on your list. Hope we have as good of luck as you with service and quality. How was the "dress code" at Cali Grill?

I would love to hear more about both Cali Grill and Narcoosee's....we're thinking of doing both in October!

Sorry, I didn't take pics. Brown Derby wasn't a bomb. It was just my least favorite. I had the short rib and it was lukewarm. I also had the cobb salad and it was just mushy. However, my husband's food was wonderful. He had coconut shrimp and salmon. For dessert, I had grapefruit cake and it was bitter. My husband had the strawberry cheesecake and it was really good. I guess it just depends on what you order? The service was wonderful and so was the atomsphere.

OMG!, the bread and butter at Kona are fantastic!! I had both breakfast and dinner there because we stayed at the Poly. I had Tonga toast one morning and macadamenia nut pancakes the next morning. Both were so yummy! For Dinner, I had the mahi-mahi and bananna creme brulee. I think your kids will love this place.

I wore capri pants and a knit top. My DH wore dress shorts and a shirt with a collar. I hear one of the servers ask a gentlemen to please remove his hat. LOL... There were people dressed really nice but most people were pretty casual.

The sushi at California Grill was fantastic. The risotto was also wonderful. My DH and I both had steaks for our meal. I think the steak at LeCellier was better but the one we had at Ca Grill was also pretty darn good. I really enjoyed the service at Calif Grill most. Our server's name was Gary. I think that's why we enjoyed Calif Grill so much. He made our anniversary dinner very special. He was the most professional waiter we've ever had. The wine list is also remarkable!

Narcoosee's was also very special. I saw a fellow diser (heatherlynn441) there. It was very nice meeting her and her family. We had crabcakes, lobster, and cheesecake for dessert. The crabcakes were good but Kona's were better. The lobster was pretty good too but the cheesecake was PERFECT!! It's a must do!...

did your daughter eat off the kids menu? wondering about Yak & Yeti what is the dessert like for the kids ? is this the place w/the Brownie Sundae for 2? can you share it w/a child?

thanx

We didn't take our daughter with us on this trip. We celebrated our 20th anniversary so she stayed home with Grandma. The dessert we had at Yak and Yeti was the pineapple wontons. The wontons were so good we went back on the last day just for dessert. We didn't have an ADR but were lucky enough to get in. I don't believe they had a brownie sundae?

Thanks for the info! It was actually heatherlynn441's review of Narcoosee's earlier this year that made me consider it for our trip, so it's funny that you saw her there!

Looks like you had a lot of great restaurants on your list -- have all of our favorites on there. We tried Yak & Yeti for the first time last week and had those pineapple wontons -- we loved 'em too. They do have the brownie sundae for two at Yak & Yeti -- that's what my DD & her BFF ordered. They ate every last bit of it, even though they were stuffed from the meal.

Me too! I'm so glad I got the nerve to speak to her. She's such a nice person.

I see that The Wave was one of your favorites. Can you tell me more about it? I'm thinking of going there on my Sept Disneymoon.

We originally did not have an adr for the wave. We had planned to have dinner at The Plaza in MK. However, it was raining heavily and we were in the mood for a nice romantic dinner. We stopped by guest relations on the way out of MK and canceled the plaza and got 8:25 at the wave. I am so glad we did this! The decor at the wave is very relaxing and beautiful. My DH and I shared the appetizer for 2 of ahi tuna and it was wonderful. We both had the fillet and a very nice merlot. Both were excellent. The dessert was also very nice. I had the creamy indulgence and DH had the crispy and crunchy. Creamy indulgence was best! It was a very nice dinner and I would not hesitate to go back again.

I noticed you ate at both Yak & Yeti & Kona. I have been trying to decide for weeks about which one to choose. What did you think? Is it really no comparison that Kona is much better? I would love to here your feedback on this. Thanks!

If you are having fun at AK and don't want to leave the park, then Yak & Yeti would be great. However, if you're not already at the park then I would definitely pick Kona. I wouldn't make a special trip just to AK to eat at Yak & Yeti. I love Kona just for the bread and butter alone!
