I just returned from a wonderful 12 night stay at VWL!! This was my longest stay to date and I loved it!!

I drove up to the resort after a quick stop at Costco for some food at 1:45 and found my room to be ready. At check in Rebecca said the room they had set aside for me wasn't ready but they had others that met my requests--non-smoking for medical reasons and non-handicap. I told her I wouldn't mind them moving me to another room so I could unpack sooner. I was in the room and unpacked by 3:00pm!!

My sister brought her PS2 and we found the "front" RCA jacks needed some adjustment by maintenance in order to work--I still don't know what they did but the next day it worked.

The room was clean with only slight wearing and tearing. On the whole the entire resort looked great. The decorations seemed a tad thin compared to last year but still looked awesome. We even visited Contemporary, GF, Y/BC, BWV, and AKL to see the decorations. I thought the tree at GF was a little skimpy and they didn't have the smaller gingerbread house up on the 2nd floor as in the past. Must be cut backs. AKL had a nice display down by Bomas. All in all the decorations across the resorts were beautiful.

I attended CP and saw Ben Vereen. I was amazed once again how well he does this. I used my new video camera to record it. He ended his narration by asking people to put politics aside and bring home all of our "kids" who are stationed in Iraq. As a memeber of the USAF that brought tears to my eyes as I have been in the US only 6 months after serving with one of our NATO allies for 25 months. Granted I wasn't in a combat zone I do know what it's like to be in a country when the "local population" of the host nation is not too happy with your own country. It was touching to hear him say that and I do appreciate his concern for all of my brothers and sisters in arms who are serving in combat zones.

We went to MVMCP and had a blast as well. The parade was wonderful this year and I think even better than in the past. It seemed MK was full mostly on the weekends. We did attend Spectromagic and I think they added some things to this parade as well. The CMs did a wonderful job controlling the crowds where I stood to tape the parades.

I adjusted my trash/towel and full cleaning days with no problems like in the past. They did an excellent job each time they came to the room and nothing was left out--sometimes I have been shorted towels when they clean.

I attended the VWL meeting and met the new gentleman--I'm sorry but I have forgotten his name--who now oversess operations and found him to be enthusiastic about his job. He seems to be a good choice and he just bought into SSR. He said his 2 boys are looking forward to staying there. I talked with the gentleman in charge of houskeeping and told him how impressed I was with the improvements made by his staff and I didn't know how they could top this year. He appreciated the positive feedback as I know he hears more of the negative issues than the positive. The GM of VWL as usual came around to meet folks and ask them about their impressions of VWL this year and prior years. I feel one of my home resorts is in great hands!!

All in all it was a great trip and I am sad to be home but my wallet is happy I am not there. ;) The drive back was sad as I knew my trip was at an end but I will be returning in May 04 to try out BCV for the first time.

Any questions I will be happy to attempt to answer!!

Great report! Thanks for posting it.

We just stayed in the regular lodge the weekend of December 5th, but oh how I missed the VWL! It is so peaceful over there.

I thought the tree looked a little thinner too. We were at the lodge Thanksgiving week in '99 and that tree seemed a lot bigger (it also wasn't on a pedestal) and it seemed wider.

I thought the tree over at the VWL was really pretty this year. That was my favorite tree this time.
