Arrived June 4 with a standard garden wing booked and was upgraded to the 12th floor concierge FOR FREE!!! That really made our trip. We were hoping to get upgraded and did!!! For those of you wondering, I did NOT ask......

Anyone need any info about the CR just ask away!

That is awesome!!!

We will be there in November. And will also be in a garden room. Here's hoping!!! But not getting my hopes up of course. :goodvibes

Both my parents and my husband and I had booked garden wing, garden view rooms and we were both upgraded to Tower rooms, not concierge, but we didn't care. We visited back in May, just over 3 weeks ago. We were bumped to 5th floor Bay Lake View and my parents were on the 7th floor, same side. It was awesome!

Must have been nice to get upgraded!

Congragulations on that fantastic upgrade. :thumbsup2 Did you get a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View room and what was your impression of the Atrium Club?

We're "hoping" for an upgrade too. We're going to celebrate my graduation from grad school just before free dining. We got a bump to a suite a few years ago for our honeymoon, but we've never stayed in the towers.

Come on PIXIE DUST!!pixiedust: pixiedust:

Here is some pixiedust: for good luck. However just remember that it's a 50/50 shot weather you will get upgraded without having to pay for it. There is also calling ahead to change your reservation for something better, so don't need to worry about being upgraded at check-in.

WOW- GREAT UPGRADE!!
That is a great surprise at check in. We stayed at the CR in 2003, but had to pay for the upgrade. We still did it and enjoyed the MK 11th floor view!! Would have loved the 12th floor concierge for FREE!!!!!

did you take any pictures of the construction?

was the construction a noise problem for your stay?

We were given a Bay view room on the 12th floor. I was rather impressed with the Atrium Club. I think I was expecting it to offer more in terms of choices of food and drink. It was free so I'm definately not complaining!

I could see the construction going on outside my window but I chose to just look straight ahead and to the right at the beautiful view! The noise/construction was never an issue for me and my family. We were very worried about the construction going on there before we arrived. Great stay!!:)

Oh, I know I could call ahead. DH and I are just happy to be able to afford the wings and an upgrade would just be an extra treat. Definately not getting my hopes up too high, just keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the pixie dust! :goodvibes

I'm not trying to hijack the OPs thread, just wanted to say that for our families the construction was not an issue either. You could hear construction noise on the weekdays from the balcony, but when the slider was shut you'd never notice a thing. My parents who were on the 7th floor and more on the Chef Mickey's end, and they did hear some of the napkin twirling singing going on from time to time, but it wasn't bothersome, they just couldn't figure out what it was. Even with the construction going on next year, I think we will try to stay there again. I did laundry one day in the garden wing and although the tower was awesome, it could be nice to be a little closer to the pool too. My husband has been spoiled with the monorail access and now only wants to stay CR or Poly, if only I could get our budget to agree!

Are there certain floors at the cr tower that are concierge?

I'm having a stroke about the construction. This is our first time with ds6 for his birthday and I hope he'll be able to see the topiary watch and not just construction dust. It was hard to convince dh to go to cr in the first place.

Should I keep our ressies or move to the PR?

The 12th floor and 14th floor are the only two Club Level floors in the Contemporary and here is the main differences between them.

With the Atrium Club a Magic Kingdom View room has to be a request, just like with a Bay Lake View room. So the only thing you will be guaranteed is a room up there, however you may not get the view you want.

With the Tower Club there are a total of 16 rooms, 5 of which are standard rooms and the rest being 1 & 2 Bedroom Suites, a Vice Presidential Suite and a Presidential Suite. With the standard rooms once again there is no guarantee of a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View. However with any of the Suite rooms it will say Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake and that means you are guaranteed to have that specific room view. Chances are you could get a Magic Kingdom with a standard room since 4 of them are on the Magic Kingdom side and one is on the Bay Lake side. Of course that is not a 100% guarantee, because if you were to stay there they could be taken by other guests. So that means you would be in the Standard Room on the Bay Lake side.

The lounge on the 12th floor is bigger with more seating then the one on the 14th floor. However since they took out 2 or 3 rooms then the 12th floor lounge should be a lot bigger. Although the lounge on the 14th floor also offers seating outside on the balcony, which is something that is not offered on the 12th floor lounge.

If noise is not a factor with the 12th floor you can hear everything going down on the 4th floor, although with the expectation of singing going on at Chef Mickey's I don't find it that bad. If noise is a factor then the 14th floor is great because you don't look down to the 4th floor. However that means things would be a lot quieter, if you can live with that.

Finally both floors serve the exact same foods for breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM Hors D'Ouves and 8:00 PM deserts & cordials.

So in the end the 12th floor Atrium Club is less expensive then the 14th floor Tower Club, even though on both floors you would get the exact same service. The 14th floor is more expensive because fewer number of rooms and because of the Suites.

As for the construction I don't think it's as bad as others are making it out to be, so incase your still not sure here is the schedule of the renovations.

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.
