We were at the Sheraton Vistana Resort from 2/7 - 2/14.

I was very worried prior to our trip because of a few reviews I had read online. We had booked the trip through a relative who has a timeshare, and I didn't do too much research prior to booking.

We checked in at 4:00 on Saturday. There was a very long line at the desk, in fact they were using the Diamond lane for regular check in. But the line moved pretty fast and everyone was very helpful and friendly. My DH and kids walked around outside and got balloons at the kid desk.

They had us in a handicapped room, not sure why. I even told them I didn't need a handicapped room, but they kept us there anyway. We were put in the Lakes section. Which I was happy about because I had heard great things about the pool there and I have two little girls who like shallow water.

The room was gorgeous. Perfectly clean (I had even brought cleaning supplies just in case!) and very spacious. Since we were in a handicapped room, we were on the first floor and our patio was right on the lake. Close enough to see the pool, but not so close to be bothered by the noise.

We had our own car, and parking got difficult around midweek, but not so bad that we had a long walk or anything.

My girls loved the lakes pool and my son enjoyed having the game room nearby. DH really made use of the hot tubs at the Falls pool every night.

The grounds are beautiful, and we really felt rich staying there!

One night though (same day as the comcast announcement and the Pluto tragedy) there were helicopters circling the resort with spotlights all night. DH was in the hot tub and the security staff told him that there was a man with alzheimers wandering around the resort and they couldn't find him. They made DH and the other people there go back to there rooms. Never did find out if they found the man, but the helicopters kept at it all night.

Throughout our stay, if we needed something, the staff was very helpful. Having the laundry room was a big plus, as was having the dishwasher and kitchen. We even grilled one night on the barbeque that was outside the building.

We did get the call inviting us to the breakfast and sell spiel. We made the reservations but didn't go as by that day we were tired and wanted to sleep in. The people called us THREE times before 8am when I finally unplugged the phone.

Check out was easy, we just called they charged our card and we were on our way.

All in all, it was a perfect place to stay for our perfect vacation and I was very VERY pleased.

Sounds like you had a great time - that's wonderful :D

Just a suggestion, you might want to add RESORT at the end of Vistana because there is some confusion between the Resort and the Villages if it's not specified, especially for new users just getting to know these places :D

Glad you had a nice trip! Thank you so much for posting this! We are headed to the Vistana Resort next month and it looks wonderful, on the website anyway. Then I've heard a few negative comments about various sections of the resort not being up to par. It seems the Lakes and Cascades are the most desirable. We are going to be checking in *really* late, about 11:30 PM, and we hope we don't get the worst room in the place.

We got our 2-bedroom villa for a great deal--here's hoping the resort lives up to our expectations.

PS Did you hear anything about how the shuttle was? We're not planning on renting a car at this point.

I am glad that you enjoyed your visit to Vistana. We have owned there for a long time and think that it is a very nice resort. We are now DVC members and we stay on site more than off but we will be at Vistana over Easter this year.
