SOG has larger rms and the lobby and entrance are very nice. They still have some bus issues to work out. The dinner buffets usually had enough choices to keep everyone happy, the breakfast buffet could use some variety. Lunch was only available at Evergreen's, I think that's the name, it's the one with the bar in it behind the mickey pool. Lunch had to be ordered off the menu.

POR was very pretty. We were in bldg 17 one night and the beds were so comfortable! We were in 1435 the last 2 nights and the mattresses definately were not the ones in bldg 17. Food court had alot of choices, we didn't do the full service restaurants. Had no problems with the buses other then they pick up at FQ first. We only had 2 days where we had to stand, I forget what the first one was but enough guests exited at the next stop that eveyone had a seat, and the other was Sat morning. The parks were empty all wk and for some reason it got crowded Sat morning. My girls had color and pixie dust at the barber shop and everyone waiting was commenting on the sudden influx of people.

Thanks for the post. We will be visiting POR in March. I have requested to be in the Oak Manor since I remember those being nice buildings. Is this where building 17 is located? I want to make sure to get comfy beds. Thanks!

we had 5 in our group so we had to stay in Alligator Bayou. I think we were in rm 1738. I could not believe the difference in the mattresses! On the brighter side, the resort was no where near full, we passed empty parking lots with not one car in them. There were never long lines in the food court. The only lines were to check in on Fri night. We went to Chef Mickey's this past Fri night and got the last reservation when I called around 11 a.m. The cm said they changed their seating plan or the number of tables or something like that, I was having a hard time understanding her, and they now take almost no walk ins. I've never needed ADR's for anything this time of yr before.

Also, don't know how accurate this is but, the boat captains on the shuttle that runs from POR/POFQ to downtown disney are telling everyone that the treehouses will be used for the college program kids. They said that right now all resources are being used to finish Saratoga Springs and in about a yr they will redo the treehouses for the kids. Some of them were taking bets from guests on how long all that glass will last with college kids living there.

Hi, Do you mean that all the restaurants now take almost no walk-ins, or did you just mean Chef Mickeys?

Aw, that's a bummer about the treehouses. Well, nice for the college kids, but I am being selfish and was hoping they would have opened them up to the guests. ;)

Was this your first time staying at POR?

Thanks,
Tink

yes it was our first time at POR and we were very happy with it. I don't know about the other restaurants, we only ate at Chef Mickey's and Biergarten because we had a meal plan for the time we were at SOG. The cm who found me an ADR at Mickey's said that they had changed the way they do buisness and I took it to mean that Chef Mickey's had changed. When we went to Biergarten we walked up, were given a beeper and only waited maybe 15 min for a table. Granted this restaurant is nowhere near as popular as Chef Mickey's, but it seemed like everyone there that night was a walk-in. Hopefully it's only Chef Mickey's, or maybe just the most popular character meals, that have new policy's.
