All I can say is....WOW!!! We had such a great time! :earsboy: Since I joined the DIS last year, I asked a ton of questions and absorbed all of your suggestions. For that, I thank you! :goodvibes We arrived 4/26 at POFQ at 7:00 AM. While our room wasn't ready(I wasn't it expecting it to be), the check-in was a snap! We were in Building #5(room #5105 & #5106) and for us, it couldn't have been any better. It was very close to the pool and food court which was sooooo convenient when refilling my refillable mug. We like this resort so much that we would love to stay here again, if another trip is in the cards for us. Thanks again for your useful tips! My family was amazed that I knew so much about the resort considering we've never been there before! :rolleyes1

BTW, we had heard it was going to be crowded at the parks during Spring Break. We knew this and expected it. Now, being from Southern California, we were prepared. Although it was crowded, it worked out for us because we would hit up the parks in the morning, then when it got warmer and more crowded, we would go back to the hotel for a swim and nap, then returned to the parks in the evening when it was cooler and less crowded. This worked like a charm when combined with the Fast Pass. Never had to wait too long for the rides.

Oh, and I met Fantasia at the POFQ. A fellow DISer and Kababayan(countryman). Pretty cool!

If you have any questions, ask away!!!

Welcome home, Lap3! I adore PO-FQ. It is one of my all-time favorite resorts. It sounds like you had a great vacation there.

I, too, have met a few Dis'ers while on vacation. I agree -- they are the best people. One of the last ones I met was during my October vacation. I hooked up with SlightlyGoofy (click here) and had a wonderful time with her and her adorable husband as we watched SpectroMagic (twice) and Wishes. We spent a few hours together that evening and I can honestly say the time just flew by. I hope I get the opportunity to see the two of them again in WDW.

Thanks but I don't want to be home! I want to be in DisneyWorld! :rotfl2: But, yes, we did have a great time while we were there. We spent 7 days and we felt it was long enough for us.

I had known ahead of time that Fantasia was going to be at the POFQ on our last full day. It just so happened she was at the pool while we were there! What a Small World!...pun intended!

Hopefully, on our next trip to WDW, if there is another trip, I'll be able to meet other DISers!

OMGosh! I love your signature picture!! I got to get one of those! I have ones holding Tink and Mickey but not Simba!

Thanks, shatzjsl! We have the one where my kids are holding Tink as well but this one turned out better. Since you want one of those pics, the way to get one is to go back there, right? Darn, I guess you have to go all the way to WDW for a picture(inject sarcasm). Luck you! You'll be there soon enough...

Glad you enjoyed POFQ! We love it there. :) That's neat you met a fellow DISer!! I agree, your sig. pic is adorable! :goodvibes

Kamusta ulit!! It was so nice to meet you and your family! You are the first DIS member I met at WDW. You have cute wonderful kids! Nice sig! I hope you and your family can come back to WDW again.

That was also our first stay at POFQ...and we LOVE it!! Only if I knew just how lovely and quaint this resort, I would have stayed here long time ago!! Anyways... I would like to stay at this resort again!

Ingat lang...

your Kababayan,
Telly

It was nice meeting you, too! I must say, you do travel to WDW a lot! :earseek:...and I say that out of jealousy! :rolleyes1 Unfortunately, flights from LA are pretty expensive so I don't have the luxury. Really, we talked about going back to WDW again but I don't see it happening for some time. But, it's nice to dream though, isn't it?

Take care and talk to you soon...

Thanks for your post. I justed booked POFQ for 6 nights in August and I wondered if you used the pool much. My DD8 thinks the water slide looks babyish (she checked out the photos on allears). She loved the Boardwalk waterslide but it's not in the budget. I did remind her she was lucky to be going to WDW again! From what I understand POFQ guests can also use Riverside's pool. Any help would be welcome!
Your kids are cuties! :flower:

Actually, we used the pool almost everyday. Our agenda was to hit up the parks in the morning. When it got crowded and/or too hot for us in the afternoon, we headed back to the hotel for a swim and nap for the kids. By dinner time, we headed back to the parks when it was less crowded and cooler. Using the Fast Pass helped because we could plan on going on rides, shows, and snacking in between to the point where we didn't have to wait very long. In August, I imagine that it will be pretty hot and humid so you may use the pool more than you think. The slide was actually pretty fun...and I say that from experience. Yes, the Dad I am went on the slide with the kids. In fact, I wasn't the only parent going down on the slide. There must have been 5 or 6 of us using it. So, to me, I don't think it's babyish at all. But, then again, I'm a big kid at heart and this is our first trip to WDW so I don't know how it compares to the other resort slides. I hope this helps...

Briarberry, when are you going? We're headed to POFQ in Oct, and I'm afraid to show my dd 8 the slide!! But like you, she's lucky she's going! :) Part of me is thinking about upgrading to AKL and their slide... decscions decscions!! I'm also grateful for all the honest appraisals of the resorts, positive and NEGATIVE, I appreciate honesty, each person that does, I thank you!!

Thanks, buzzriders. That's very nice of you. Although they may be our "Angels", they have their moments! You parents with toddlers know what I mean... :rolleyes1

Your children are beautiful! I see your from Simi. I spent my entire childhood in Chatsworth but now live on the right coast in Delaware. We have a trip planned to WDW for our 25th later this year. We honeymooned at DL.

Thanks, mrslur! That's a big change going from the hot summers of the Valley to the cold winters of the east coast. Do you miss being out here? For us, we're glad we live in Simi. It's really safe, nice community, and it's not too far from the beaches or the mountains. We would love to go back to WDW soon. Unfortunately, it's kind of expensive for us to do it. We're thinking of going in a couple of years. By then, we'll have some money saved to splurge on a deluxe resort. A honeymoon in DL sounds "magical"! My DW and I honeymooned in Paris so we were fortunate enough to go to Disney Paris. We loved it so much we're planning on going back next year! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Hello. Glad you like POFQ. We stayed there last year. I thought it was beautiful there and very quaint although it was kinda too quiet for me :confused3 We go pretty much every year and try to stay at a different resort. This summer we are going to CBR. We actually went there 11 years ago on our first trip to disney world. I remember it as being great. I'm hoping its not just because it was our first trip there. I hear/read lots of complaints about it on here. Most seem to be because it is so big but that doesnt bother me as I felt POFQ was too small but we did love it there.

Love your picture. Was that picture taken at AK or did you photo crop simba on there yourself? Love it.

Goin back to Disney July 1-July 17th.....come oooooooon July!! :cheer2:

I've never thought about looking to see where people are from! I grew up there -- moved there in '65 and now live in Virginia. I'm going there this summer to visit my family -- my sis, mom & I are going to hit Downtown Disney just to shop and soak up the atmosphere...

Anyway, about POFQ. It looks wonderful to me, mostly since I've always wanted to go to New Orleans and haven't had the chance. I'm not sure when we'll go again (we just returned from a week at WL), but know that we will not be able to afford a deluxe. If we go again in 2 years our kids will be 6 & 8. Do you think that it would be a good place for them, or should we try CB? I know that no resort's slide will top the one at WL, but that's not why I'll be going back. I've been reading a lot of posts, and now I have no idea. But then I've got some time before I'll need to make up my mind. :Pinkbounc

Yes, we enjoyed it a lot! Since this was our first trip to WDW, I can't compare it to the other resorts. However, I do know that we liked it so much that we would definitely consider staying there again!

Thanks for the comment about the picture. Yes, this was taken in front of Animal Kingdom. My kids were confused when the photographer told them to cup their hands. After looking at the picture, we see why. That's a great idea and my kids love it!

Have a great trip. We only stayed for a week but 2 weeks in Disney sounds like a lot of fun!

You know, as I see more posters on the DIS, it seems like most are from the east coast! I didn't think I would ever find anyone that ever heard of Simi Valley, much less lived here before. We've been here for about 7 years and we're glad we chose Simi to raise our kids.

IMO, I think POFQ is suitable for any age. You and the kids will enjoy the pool, it's a small resort where walking around isn't too far, and the theming is very nice. Personally, I like it because it reminds me of walking down Main Street in DL/Magic Kingdom. If there's a next time, we might try a deluxe resort. For a moderate, we really like it!
