We just returned from a 12 night DVC vacation. We spent one night at AKL and then 11 nights at our home, OKW.

We got our preferred South point area. We were in 5521/20 so we were on the quiet side of building 55. The area was not full down there, but the Turtle Pond area seemed to be at capacity. When we left yesterday, they told us OKW was filled to capacity for this next week.

Our unit was very well maintained, but housekeeping was lacking this time. We had someone assigned to our unit who did not speak English. She had a lot of trouble getting anything right. She missed our second Trash and Towel day completely, and was arriving to do trash and towel when we were taking stuff out of the unit to check out. It wasn't really a big problem though. It just meant we washed towels a few extra times. Housekeeping even left the door to the lock off studio unit open after they cleaned when our ressie went from 2 bedrooms to 1. We could have used the second bedroom if we hadn't been so honest. We went ahead and closed the doors and locked them. The unit was not used during the rest of our stay.

Bus service was fantastic!!! The bus on demand system is definately working better than the old system was. I doubt we ever waited more than 15 minutes, and most times it was less than 5!!

I really missed the placemats and hot pads. Trying to use towels for hot pads and a trivet was not easy. I managed to spill lasagne sauce all over the kitchen towels trying to use them to get the hot pan out of the oven. They did have small boxes of Cascade in the unit this time. I liked that much better than the small packets of auto dishwasher soap they had before. We used the kitchen a lot, so they had to bring us another box half way through the trip.

This unit was VERY quiet!:) I did notice that those staying in the ground floor unit of this building near the hot tub kept everything closed up. I would assume that unit would get lots of noise etc. from the pool and hot tub area.

We also love to stay in the South Point Area. It is easy to walk over to DD from there.

What is the new on-demand bus service? We will be going home to OKW in Aug and didn't realize that the bus service had changed. Also, I saw on another thread that they are no longer offering the character breakfasts at Olivia's? We have already promised this to our DDs, so if Olivia's doesn't offer this anymore, we will have to go to another resort that is offering it.

Hi Diane. We also just got back sunday from 10 days at okw. We stayed in the turtle pond area right across from the pool. great location. I agree the busses were fantanstic. no waits hardly at all. they must have given you our box of cascade because we had none . I had to call and get one. We also stayed one nite at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was so incredible. Now we have to plan Sept vacation.. hehe... dave:D :smooth:

AKL was great, but we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy it. Delta had mechanical trouble with our flight and didn't decide to cancel the flight until 7 hours after it was to leave. That meant we sat in the airport for 7 hours and then they sent us to Cincinatti to wait another 4 hours before sending us on to Orlando! This was our first and possibly last Delta trip!

It meant we didn't arrive at AKL until 11 p.m., so we didn't get much time to enjoy.

A question for you Diane. We love the Southpoint area too. We usually request bldgs. 45 or 46 because of their wonderful view of Trumbo Canal. This last visit we were supposed to be in bldg 55--but at the last minute because of some snafu--we were switched to bldg 44 (hated that bldg--bad view and lots of noise--first bldg I've hated). Anyway, we had been told that a lot of CM's love bldg 55 because of its location and view. What do you think? You mentioned a noisy part of the bldg--lots of noise??Would this be a bldg you'd request again? Thanks for your input.

We loved building 55. We stayed in 56 last year and had some bus noise, but 55 was absolutely quiet! I just imagine the ground floor room right next to the hot tub might be noisy.

The view was fabulous!! Especially in the morning! Actually the best part of the view was looking across the canal right on the corner to buildings 45/46! You also get a good view down the side of the canal and the walk to DTD.
