Thanks to everyone's help...had a great trip to U/IOA! Hard Rock check in was courteous and prompt. The room was clean and housekeeping was accomodating to any requests. We had the buffet breakfast at the Kitchen....mmmmm awesome! We ate at the beach club twice (really out of convenience) no complaints. We LOVED the proximity to the parks and the grounds themselves were beautiful! I am a Disney snob....and the mouse has nothing on Universal and its hotels.LOL.Thanks again for all the help on this forum!!

So glad to hear you had a great time! Please stick around and lend your advice to other newbies!

OOOHHHH, any more scoop? We are headed to HRH at the end of August for the first time! Would love to hear anything else you experienced or care to share!

We're heading down in August and have never been to Universal or the HRH so any comments about your trip would be greatly appreciated.

Mawaahahahah! :darth: Another one comes over to the dark side.

Glad to hear you had a great time! :cool1:

Have a day sitting by the pool, eating out of the Beach Club, it's a great way to relax.

Hey guys...sorry real life has me busy! We went into this trip with no expectations and resigned ourselves to the heat and crowds. I find that forums and trip advisor boards are highly critical of most places/resorts/restaurants.They're extremely helpful but focus more on the occasional negative aspects then all the positives!!We took time to visit all three universal hotels... all equally nice.We took the taxi boat to Mama Della's at the Portifino and had a very lovely dinner and walk around the property.Food is very expensive and 18 % grat is included in most tabs. The noise level at Hard Rock was way less than I expected. The pool often has Dj's providing lots of fun...and movies on certain nights, too. We had a late lunch at the Kitchen and also tried the breakfast buffet. Both great! Ice cream shop on level 1 (near pool entrance) is totally worth a stop.Staff were pleasant and funny and joked alot with our teen girls.Little things were no problem like extra pillows, storing luggage, taking pictures at various places of our family etc.Check in and out was a breeze. We did get internet access from our lap top in our room if anyone is wondering. It's is really a short walk to Universal and City Walk.I loved that part!!Any specific questions, please ask.I'll check in ....hope i can help.

Thanks for the report- how much was the internet access in your room? how was the pool-crowded?--did you reserve a cabana?

We plan to have LOTS of that. I ran DH to death at Disney and he prefers a more laid back vaca. In fact, on our last day our flight is not until 8 PM so I reserved a cabana for the day to just chill out all day before we leave return to reality :)

Just wondering since it our first time leaving the mouse. How do you get from HRH to the parks. Is it close enough to walk or is there a boat? We will have our car as well

it is minutes walking to the park from HRH.

it probably would take longer for you using the water taxi when you factor in the wait for it to dock and then load.

no car needed to get to the parks from any of the hotels.

go to universalorlando.com and see the size and location of the hotels and parks.

Glad you had a great trip! We are heading to Universal for our 1st time as well Sept. 2nd - 6th! Staying at the HRH. How about the game room did your kids use it? Also can you recommend any restaurants at CityWalk? We're not looking for fancy as we have two boys 7 & 9 just decent food!

Thanx..

lisa

oh also how much time do you think you need in each park? Also which park do you think needs more time?

We love Margaritaville at City Walk. Good food and portions are really good size. As far as times for the parks, we only stay for two days at HRH and never have a problem with getting everything done that we want. Having the FOTL for staying on-site will make your trip much easier.

What time did you get to the parks in the morning? Were you truly able to go later than first thing, due to FOTL?
This will be our first time going in August.:yay:

Hi. We are staying at HRH early August. From previous experience the FOTL facility is fantastic. My daughter and I rode the incredible hulk 6 times. Straight off and back on again. The longest wait I think was for duelling dragons as you meet the queue but even so it saves you so much time. It certainly beats the fastpass. Can't wait to get there.:yay:

yep....show up at the parks at your leisure!!! I'm a disney nazi and I plan everything months in advance...not necessary at Universal with fotl :) ahhhhh...just enjoy.

I, too, usually plan every second and step of our Disney trips...looking forward to the true "vacation" mode!

Thank you for the extra excitement:banana: about the FOTL! We can not wait!
