My husband and I just returned from our 15th Anniversary trip and had a really wonderful time. We spent our first night at CSR which we both found to be a truly beautiful resort. We checked in on Aug 25th and the place seemed almost empty. Our room was in the Castias section builing 1 so we were very close to the main building. The grounds in this section were very lush and the quiet pool was nice as well. At check-in we were given a voucher for an anniversary toast (2 small bottles of champange), which was a nice surprise. I didn't like the dig site pool as well as French Quarter pool, it was nice, but just seemed very open and hot. The Pepper Market seemed confusing, and I saw alot of people taking their food and eating outside probably to avoid paying the 10% charge. I know some people said that the internal transportation system wasn't very good here, but we saw the golf carts going all the time around the resort. We walked in the morning before we left and I think 5 stopped to ask us if we wanted a ride to the main building. My husband and I both said we would return to this resort.
The other 5 nights we spent at Boardwalk (we rented points). This resort was also very nice!! We arrived via taxi from CSR and our room was ready at 11:00. This was wonderful except we found out that we were one of the very last rooms on the Villa side. Quite a long walk from the lobby, I timed it and it took over 2 1/2 minutes to walk to our room (no view of Epcot fireworks). But we took the back way to the pool which wasn't quite as long. Room was a nice size and it was nice having a microwave. I can see where the room may be ready for a face lift. It was very clean, but just some maintenance issues (doors falling out the amoire, carpet looking worn, nicks in the white doors that are quite noticeable, awnings on balconies are pretty full of mold. All small things and it didn't keep us from enjoying our stay. Transportation was very prompt and the walk to both Epcot and MGM was lovely. We really enjoyed the pool and just sitting and relaxing. The bar at the pool makes the best Long Island iceteas!! We arrived back to the room one night and had a message that we had a package at the front desk. We were suprised to find 3 anniversary balloons and a card signed from Mickey and Minnie waiting for us. I think the only way they would have know is that we were wearing our anniversary pins when we checked in. Anyways it was a pleasant and unexpected surprise!!
We both said the resort would be great to bring the kids back to, however we both said the one downfall of this area is that there is no real counter service area. For just the two of us it was fine, but with the kids the ease of having counter service is so helpful. The items that the Boardwalk bakery had were tasty, but don't know if my kids would enjoy it. I guess we would just take food to eat in the rooms.
Very pleased with both resorts, had a good trip and look forward to our trip next year!!
