Cast: Me (Mom), DD(Just turned 7), DS 8 1/2
We just returned from 2 days at Disneyland to celebrate my DD's B-day. We are AP holders, so we go quit a bit, but I wanted to surprise my daughter with a couple of things.
Day 1: We arrived at DLH around 11:00am to check-in. To my surprise, our room was already available. The lady at check-in was really friendly & gave my DD a birthday button with her name on it. My kids were excited about going swimming, so we head straight for the pool. This pool is themed to Peter Pan & is great for kids. It has 1 baby slide & 1 big slide that starts from the top of Skull Rock. After swimming for 2 hours, we grab some burgers from Croc Bites and eat in our room. After freshening up, we head to Disneyland on the Monorail. Sometimes the monorail isn't too reliable, but during our trip it was running ever 5 minutes with no problems. We rode Star Tours, Astro Orbiters & Alice, then my kids started to complain they were hungry again. So we went to Carnation Cafe for an early dinner. My son and I split a Tuna sandwhich on a croissant and a bowl of cheese brocoli soup & my DD had the PB & J artist pallet (It comes on an artist pallet w/ PB, jelly, marshmellows, choc. chips, raisins, bananas & strawberries and the kids get to put it together). I ordered my DD a birthday bucket & they brought it out and sang to her. She got the princess bucket w/ a little Mickey cake on top & treats on the inside. After that we went to Toontown & got a Fastpass for the Roger Rabbit Cartoon spin. We then went to Goofy's bounce house & my son was too tall, but since it was my DDs birthday, the lady let just my 2 kids (and another b-day girl) have the house to themselves to bounce. Next we went to Mickey's house to meet Mickey & back to the Roger Rabbit ride for our fastpass time.
I had booked the Fantasmic Balcony seats for a surprise for my kids so we had to be there by 8:00, so we went on Pirates & the Jungle cruise until it was time to go to the Gallery. We then went upstairs & were the first to be seated. My kids were in Heaven when they saw all the desserts. The desserts & show were great and you can not beat the view.
We then went back to to the Monorail to go to bed. When we returned to our room, Vacation Planning had left my daughter a Little Mermaid Barbie with balloons and a card from Mickey. The card from Mickey had a photo inside that was personalized to my daughter with all the princesses and their autographs. She was very happy.
Day 2: We slept in because Disneyland & Ca. Adventures didn't open til 10:00. We ate breakfast in our room, checked-out and headed to DCA. We road Soarin, Ca Screamin, Jumpin Jellyfish, Molholland Madness, ITTBAB, and the rides in Bug Land & then went over to Disneyland. We did all the Fantasyland rides and headed to New Orleans Square & got a fastpass for Splash Mountain. We then rode HM & after we saw the Mime that rides the unicycle (if you've been to Disneyland then you probably know who I'm talking about). Well he saw it was my DD b-day and gave her some beads then he saw my kids lanyards with all their pins (they love trading pins & have quit a bit) and he took us upstairs & brought out hundreds of beads for my kids to trade with him. My kids were in heaven. Then he let my daughter pick one the keep for a birthday gift. We took a picture, said goodbye and went on Splash Mountain. After Splash, we rode the Pooh ride and ate at Hungry Bears & fed the ducks. We then went to a kids pin-trading class, which was very fun & each kid go 2-free pins to trade. The man had some extras, so he let the adults try to win some by asking Disney Trivia & I won 2 pins!!
After that we headed to the Disneyland Hotel to go to Goofy's Kitchen. We were called right away and the table was decorated for my daughters b-day & they got hats & birthday bags. There were 9 characters that night (and this was a Monday night) and we had great interaction with all of them. The characters were Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Baloo, Aladin, Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella. Some funny moments were when Goofy was at our table and Aladin came by and bent over at the table next us, then goofy made a fart sound behind Aladin & starting waving my DD autogragh book in behind Aladin's backside & plunging his nose. It was hilarious. Also, Cinderella & Aurora taght my daughter to dance during the dance time. Goofy also was breakdancing. Then some of the characters came and sang happy birthday to my DD & Auroa taught here a secret princess hand shake, which was very cute. After dinner we went home.
To anyone who's thinking of going, I highly recommed Goofy's Kithchen. It has the best character interaction. We have been to almost all the character dining experiences at both Disneyland & WDW and Goofy's Kithchen has been the best by far (we have been 3 times). I have yet to find a character meal at WDW that I didn't feel rushed & that the characters played around with us, but maybe I just go at bad times???
All in all it was a short but fun packed trip
