Just returned from eight nights of DDP and am happy to say that as of now nothing, I repeat nothing, has changed with the way you can use DDP. Checked in at POP at 6:30am alone, my family was fast asleep at our condo, was not asked to see the rest of my family, was not lectured on not being able to use child credits for adult meals, and was not even given a DDP brochure.

The kids shared meals at most TS as they were still full from their CS and snacks. The credits we saved we used for character breakfasts and for CG. The credits are still pooled and can be used this way. At CG on receiving the bill, our waiter made sure to tell us that the smart thing to do would be to put the kids meals on the bill with our drinks and save our credits for more meals.

Service was terrific at all TS except Planet Hollywood where there was not enough servers to Handel the crowds. We were seated almost immediately at all our TS and even walked into to Boma for dinner one night at 4:30 and breakfast one morning.

Snacks were abundant, especially when you add in The Food and Wine Festival. Best deal there, the American Booth where a snack credit will get you a $6.45 lobster roll. All booths we went to took DDP for food items, many are deceiving as they do not have the snack icon on the menu.

At CS kids had adult meals if they did not want anything from the kids menu. If this was the case DW and I each got in line and ordered two adult meals.

I did not bother to keep track of receipts but needless to say free DDP is a great deal when combined with a value hotel. To those wondering how they will be able to use their plan for upcoming trips, disregard all the negativity you see here and know that nothing has changed with the plan. As with anything else it could change in the future, but as of now you can share, pay OOP and use the credits as pooled. If anyone has any questions as always please feel free to PM me.

Thanks so much...you really answered a lot of my questions. We are leaving in a few weeks and look forward to enjoying those DDP credits...

Thank you. Your thread confirms what pretty much everyone has said lately. I'm really even more bummed out that I had to cancel my August trip. Maybe next year.

bstnsprts,

Do you mean they shared a meal together or they are part of yours?
Do they give you that much food on both adult meals and kids meals?

It seems to me the CM's are not very consistent in handling the DDP. At some CS restaurants, we had no trouble ordering adult meals for my DS, and at others we were "scolded" for it. The CM at Flame Tree was somewhat nasty, but at the food court at POR we were encouraged to order adult meals for my son. The credits are pooled - its just that some CM's were starting to notice (by the code on our card I guess) that we had a child and were insisting we order a child's meal. If you want to order adult meals for your child, it will not affect your credits in any way. Our trip was 9/7 - 9/17/06.

Were you given the five page brochure when you checked in?

No, I was not given any brochure at check in. I didn't notice until later on or I would have asked to see which one I would be given.

If your happy with your choices for your family that's what counts. By your choices you must be travelling with children and they will definitely enjoy all The Character Meals. Base your choices on what's best for your family.

That's very bad service, particularly since some guests are confused about B&C. It's a TS restaurant but some guests think it's CS.
