just reserved summer vaca - 6 nights Seabrook, NH

Went there last year for 2 long weekends - 3 nights each.
They have a weekday pkg for 4 nights Sun-Th. I took the 6night pkg which can include the weekend. I still need to take 3 vaca days but get to use the weekend. Thurs I work 1230 so I'll just book it from the hotel to work.

They have outdoor pool, trolley to Hampton Beach, continental brkfst, fridge in room, petting zoo, slides/rides for the kids, waterslide. Now I need to research the area cos that's a long time to be at the hotel. Maybe we'll need to go to Water Country!

oh I have until July 18 to save the $400

I'm from there originally. Actually, I grew up in Salisbury, but spent just as much time in Seabrook and Hampton.

You're right next to Hampton Beach (I'm sure you know that,) which has the Casino Ballroom (I used to work there.) They have some fun shows throughout the summer. Everything from Cheap Trick and Joe Walsh, to Louie Anderson, John Valby or some of the bigger country music acts (not much of a country music fan, so I can't name names.) Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull and the Jerry Garcia Band have all played there at different times. It's a fun place.

You're not far from Portsmouth, and downtown Portsmouth is great. There are lots of restaurants, shops and pubs. For family activities, there's Strawberry Banke - a 'living' museum: http://www.strawberybanke.org/

Plus, like you said, Water Country is right there.

Right across the river from Portsmouth is Kittery. There are a lot of outlets there. There's also Kittery Trading Post, which is a smaller, less trendy LL Bean type of place.

If you like fishing, there are plenty of fishing boats to charter right in Seabrook. That time of year you'll be catching the big, cow stripers outside the mouth of the river. Whale watching is available, too.

I'd highly recommend making the trek over to Newburyport. It's a beautiful port community with great restaurants and shops. Yankee Homecoming starts later in July.
Plus, you'll be right near Plum Island, and the state reservation.

Salisbury Beach has the arcades and bars you'd expect. When I was younger I loved hanging around the center, but I wouldn't necessarily bring a family there now at night. It's not a bad place at all, just a little more of a wild place.

I have to agree with Chef Billy - Portsmouth, NH is wonderful. Downtown Portsmouth is very cool. You NEED to go up there (I just moved from Portsmouth to California about two months ago, and miss it a lot.)

We loved the Portsmouth Brewery and I would recommend the Shoals Pale Ale. The pizza is really good too.

There are two other restaurants that I would really like to recommend, Lou's Upstairs Grill and Lindberg's Crossing, if you want to try something a little more upscale.

Also you might want to try a cruise to the Isles of Shoals - they have party boats and other sightseeing trips - the site is www.islesofshoals.com

We are members of Strawbery Banke, and really enjoyed that too.

I live in New Hampshire and if your into Antiques, there are a lot of antique shops in the town of Hampton, not to be confused with Hampton Beach. You are a hop skip and a jump from them in Seabrook.

Not too far is the Coast of Maine. York, Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunkport etc. All great places and they too have some antique shops.

Don’t forget, NH is tax free so you pay no sales tax on anything you buy. That does not apply to food and hotels. That would be where you’ll get zapped.

thanks everyone - when we went last year it was for 3 nights each time so we mostly stayed at the hotel, went for dinner, drives, etc. As you know Im a planner so would like to get out and see more of the area. Thanks

If you are looking for a nice, but casual meal, try Ronaldos on Lafayette Rd(St?),in the town of Hampton. The food is delicous and they give you enough food for the week. They used to be at Hampton Beach(I believe where the Ocean Wok now is), and they also had a place in Methuen. Unfortuantely that one closed, but we still will hike up to Hampton to eat at Ronaldos. Its the best!

Speaking of Ocean Wok... People I work with RAVE about Ocean Wok. They say it's the bast Chinese food they've ever had.
I haven't been there yet, so I can't vouch - but it comes very highly recommended.

Chef Billy & Boos Mom, for some reason the thought of getting Chinese food at Hampton Beach, never really appealed to me. Now you have me thinking I will have to try it next summer. Im sure we will make it up there at some point.
