Magic is in the cards

Disney's Visa Credit Card from Bank One is coming soon. It's the
first credit card in history that will offer Disney Dream Reward
Dollars(SM) on your Disney's Visa Card purchases. Apply between
March 4 - 24, 2003, and your card will be embossed with Disney
Vacation Club and will also reflect "Cardmember Since Day 1."
As a "Day 1" cardmember, you'll also receive a limited edition
commemorative pin to mark the occasion. More information will be
available soon at dvcmember.com
***News of Note***
Stormalong Bay slide closure

Continuing through April 4, 2003, the waterslide located at
Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will be
closed for refurbishment. But as a Member staying at Disney's
Beach Club Villas, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, or Disney's Beach
Club Resort, the Stormalong Bay pool areas remain available for
your enjoyment while the slide undergoes enhancement.

Interval International(R) - Two ways to go

Whether you want to go to Aspen, New Zealand, or over 300 places
in between, there are two ways to make an Interval International(R)
exchange: Request First and Deposit First. Both methods give you
the flexibility and convenience of deciding how and when to make
the exchange.

With Request First, when you contact Member Services for an
Interval International(R) exchange, a search will be conducted to
see if there's an immediate match. If an immediate match is
available, you can confirm right away. If no immediate match is
found, you may request a search. Once a match is confirmed, your
Vacation Points are committed.

With Deposit First, you have the option of first depositing a
reserved Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodation into the
exchange system, then deciding later where and when you'd like
to travel. This is a particularly good option if you haven't
settled upon vacation plans, but don't want to lose the use of
your Vacation Points. Remember, to increase your exchange
opportunities, don't wait until late in your Use Year to make
your plans!

Also, keep in mind that once you deposit your Disney Vacation
Club Resort accommodations, you cannot withdraw them. Consult
pages 160-165 of the 2002-2003 Member Guidebook for details. For
information that will help you plan a Member Getaways - World
Passport Collection vacation, click here.

to join them for traditional Italian fare, offered a la carte
daily for lunch and dinner (without appearances from Disney
characters).

The changing landscape

In December's Member Clubhouse, we said you could look forward to
monthly stories with interesting details about our newest
proposed Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs
Resort & Spa. Well, since we're breaking new ground, we figured
there's no better place to begin than with the landscaping.

So we talked to Keith Bongirno, from the landscape architecture
firm MSI, who's helping bring the look and feel of upstate New
York to central Florida. MSI is the same firm that worked wonders
with the landscaping at some of your other favorite Disney
resorts (including The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and
Disney's Beach Club Villas) and Disney's own private island
paradise, Castaway Cay.

In planning the landscape for Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort &
Spa, Keith told us that he's looking to capture a late-1800s
look. The architecture of the time will be complemented to create
a romantic feeling reminiscent of this splendid era in Saratoga
Springs' rich history.

Disney will magically bring the charm of Saratoga Springs to life
in every detail including flowers, trees, rocks, fountains, and
lakes. Guests will delight in daylilies, irises, and
ferns--horticulture that's natural to Saratoga Springs and
indigenous to Florida. Likewise, Red Maples, Sycamores, and River
Birch trees native to upstate New York as well as central Florida
will dot the landscape with beautiful foliage. And according to
Keith, the beautiful Oak and Pine trees that are currently on
property will work well within the resort's landscape.

Attention to detail will be evident everywhere you look. As in
the town of Saratoga Springs, the formal gardens, patios, and
courtyards will be situated close to buildings, while pastoral,
forested areas are placed away from them. The rockwork will draw
on the granite/sedimentary slate, stone, and river rock abundant
in the Adirondack region.

But perhaps the most striking thing about Disney's Saratoga
Springs Resort & Spa will be its connection to water in various
forms. To begin with, the many lakes (with their landscaped edges
and dramatic, tall fountains that are lit at night) will
transport you to Saratoga Springs. Other fountains will be
spring-like with water bubbling up from the rocks. Some will even
be covered by gazebos. Keith told us his favorite thing is the
fabulous feature pool. Naturally-shaped, there will be a bubbling
spring cascading over rocks before falling gracefully toward the
pool--just like a spring-fed lake! The accompanying waterslide
will create quite a splash as it weaves in and out of rockwork
and passes under a stone bridge before reaching the pool.

Watch for more exciting details about this magical new resort
next month and in upcoming issues of Vacation Magic and Member
Clubhouse.

***Coming to the Clubhouse***
Before we know it, spring will be here. That means we'll have
some details on the Atlanta Braves' Spring Training at Disney's
Wide World of Sports(TM) Complex. And with spring fever in the
air, what better time for Disney Historian Jim Korkis to fill you
in on some details about Mickey's true love, Minnie. We'll also
have more details on construction progress at Disney's Saratoga
Springs Resort & Spa, specials for Members, a spotlight on
Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and maybe even some news from the
S.S. Member Cruise.

See you real soon!

OK, guess that answers the 'will there be a slide' question once and for all! :)

This sounds like it will be a beautiful resort.

I was hoping the "surprise" was going to be something besides the Visa....oh well. It is interesting that ours will say DVC Member on them. I wonder if they will offer us some perks that will differ from those other card holders will have

Yeah right, more than likely they will charge us a higher interest rate.

;) You hit the nail on the head!

I'm kind of disappointed with all the teasers for the card- its beengoing on for months! Enough already, give us the hard facts!

I'm pretty tickled about the cards having DVC member on them. :p

Thanks for posting, Nick and Cindy. I've been trying to get MS to send me this. The last response I got was "We haven't sent anything out lately (this was after people here posted that they received their December issue) but thank you for registering your e-mail" and something of the sort that I will be receiving mail in the future. I've tried registering at least three times and have yet to get one e-mail from DVC! I guess I'll try again, but in the meantime it was nice of you to post it. Thanks again!

You forgot the biggest perk of all...10% off at your local Disney store (for purchases of $50.00 or more charged to the card, excluding sale priced items and park tickets).
