Everyone here has been so helpful. But, it seems I always have more questions. Hubby and I plan to read everything over this weekend and send it back out on Monday. In the meantime, we have our member id's and have made our first reservation at SSR with our developer points, yay!!!! Couple of questions:
#1 We are staying at a 2BD for 6 nights. We have 5 of us. 3 kids plus hubby and me. My parents may be in Fla. the same time as us and talked about coming over and joining us for a night. Can they stay in the same villa as us since it can accomodate 8? How would that work since we are planning to get the dining plan or would it not work?
#2 If it is a no go because of the dining, can I make a reservation for them say at a studio with my 25% off? Or can you only reserve a room if it is for yourself?
#3 Since I learned about trash & towels - would we only get 5 towels since there are 5 of us or would we get 8 since it is a 2 BD?
Thanks!!!

#1 If they come to spend one night and you get them keys, they MUST be on the dining plan for the entire reservation. That is quite a lot of extra cost, so I guess I would probably book a studio for them if it's possible yet.
#2 the discounted rooms are supposed to be for the member with the member staying in the room. You might want to ask about that though.
#3 You will get 8 towels in a 2 bedroom.

Question: Do they have to notify anyone at the front desk if their guests stay for one night? They could always give them one of their two card keys. Would this be an infraction of any kind, since they are not violating the accomodation policy? Thanks for the info.

I believe that DVC wants to know the names of everyone in the room. OTOH... nobody is going to do a bed check. Some people (probably most) on this forum would consider anything less than 100% compliance with the intent of every policy as not being acceptable. YMMV.

Personally... I have not done what you are inquiring about.

I agree with Jim - no one will do a bed check.

That said, it doesn't hurt to tell them (they won't care) and it could make a difference in case of an emergency. For example, in case of a fire, the firefighters want to know how many people were supposed to be in room - if they think there were only two, they may not look for more. I know that such a situation is a long shot, but it could happen. I don't expect to be in a car crash but I wear my seat belt all the same.

Thank you very much! I am not sure if they will even stay with us or not. Just thought I would check to see what I should do if they want to. I do not want to go against any rules and I do want the dining plan. Maybe in the future we will not get it, but right now that is one of the many things my family enjoys at Disney - eating!!!! I think I will just tell my parents to try and book a studio for the one night.

Some people might actually think it is an advantage to get extra dining plan TS credits. If your guests were only there for a partial stay... you would have extra TS (and CS) credits which may come in handy if you are going to restaurants that take two TS credits. It is extra money... but also extra benefits that MAY be of benefit to some people, in certain situations.
