We just received our documents for our 11/14 cruise. We requested early seating for dinner but the documents indicate we have late.

How do I go about correcting this? And do I contact them now or wait till we get on the ship.

I suggest you call now and hope they have not filled the early seating.

did you book through a TA? If so, i would call them and have them get this straightened out for you...

If you cannot get it straightened out beforehand, you can try once you are on board.

I wouldn't wait until you got on board though to try for a resolution...

We had this on our first cruise as well. By the time we sailed all was straightened out. So make the call, but it is likely you'll end up at the time you need to be.

We managed a switch from early to late on embarkation day for a party of 10 with no problem.

I am not saying to panic. I am saying if you want the best chance at getting the problem to be resolved, call in advance of your trip. Waiting until you board to fix a problem may not always be an option.

The real issue is whether early seating was available <I>at the time you booked</I>. It is always easier to switch from early to late, because most people with kids want early seating. You said you "<I>requested early seating</I>," but you did not say if you had been CONFIRMED for it. If it was just a request and you were put on a wait list, then all you can do is wait to see if anything opens up for you. But if you were <I>confirmed</I> for early seating, then you should contact your TA (or DCL if you booked direct) and try to get it corrected immediately.

I do not recall if it was verbally confirmed. I assume I would have something in writing if it was confirmed. Which I do not.

Am I safe in assuming, I would have something in writing if it was confirmed.

If you booked with DCL direct you would have received a buff colored paper trimmed in blue and red with all of the details, payment balance, dates, etc.

If you booked with a TA what you received varies.

Did you have ANY kind of confirmation letter or receipt from either your TA or DCL before receiving your documents? If so, it <I>should have</I> listed your dinner seating. If you were wait listed, then it would have said that, if you had not been officially assigned a seating. If you were CONFIRMED in writing for early seating, then that gives you "ammunition" of sorts to get switched to early. If not, early seating is probably already filled this close to sailing.

I booked thru a TA. I will check the old paperwork. Thanks for your help.

This interesting . . . . I booked online and had requested early seating. MY DH and I are traveling alone, but I'm a bit of an early bird. I was concerne about not eating until 8:30. Even though my confirmation on-line said early seating, the documents said late seating. I didn't do anything about it. I assumed because we weren't bring kits along they automatically moved us to a late seating.
