I just receive a phone call from one of my dd 6 friends looking my dd. :confused3 DD6 passed out her invatation today. I am assuming that is were she got my cell phone number from. I could hardly hear her, but told her that DD is a daycare and she will call her back later tonight.

Maybe I should have asked to talk to her mom.

I don't understand what you are posting.

DD6.5 is on the phone quite frequently with her little friends. Not that much, but I'd say once a week either she calls someone or will receive a call.

LOL! Really?? My daughter, also 5, likes to call her grammas, but she's never asked to call her friends. :lmao:

(I'm not doing a mean laugh, I think it's cute!)

DD turned 7 in December. She has 2 friends that call her about once a week. I don't think it's that unusual. I try to listen in on what they're talking about, it's quite funny. One day they were giving each other a spelling test over the phone.

My DD's (6 and 7) have started giving and receiving phone numbers from their friends. One day a friend called at 3PM, she must have just gotten off the bus at her house. DD's were at day care.

Let the games begin.

I know my DD8 is barely off the bus when her friend starts calling her and she call's several times a night. Sometimes as late as 9PM. Now this girl is 7 and DD's bedtime is 8:30. We finally told her no calls after 7PM. Get ready..... it's going to start but ITA that 6 is a bit young.

DD8 in two weeks is CONSTANTLY on the phone. It is insane around here. I do shut it down though, enough is enough..

The girl probably wanted to confirm her presence at the party;)

My DD just turned 7. Since she started first grade she has had several friends call her. Most of the time it's just to talk about their webkinz while playing each other on the site or talk about the new stuff in the American Girl catalogs. We don't allow her to talk on a cordless just yet and so i can listen to what she is saying on her end while I am making dinner.

She also calls my mom every night to talk about her day.

My 5 year old also calls her friend once in a while. They talk for about 5 minutes. Not much to talk about at the age.

You need to tell the little friend to lay off your cell phone, and if she wants to talk to your DD, she should text her Blackberry.;)

I am going to take a guess: Your DD passed out the invites....DD's friend gets home from school and asks her mom if she can go...Mom says yes, and DD's friend calls the # on the invite to RSVP! :)

Dare I suggest the child was calling to rsvp? Seems totally logical.

Its very cute - I'm still at that phase where I laugh at this "cute" stuff. I'm sure very very soon, I will be screaming "DD GET OFF THE PHONE NOW!!!!"

Well, I find it odd that she called my cell phone. Both numbers were listed. Maybe she did call the house phone I would not know cause I am at work. Also I would expect the parent to call to RSVP, not a 6 or 7 year old.

Another reason why I find it odd is that I could not hear her. I only her ask for dd and then her saying her name. If a parent was near then maybe they could have taking the phone. I dont know maybe I am the weird one.

So you listed you cell number? I'm not getting why you think it's so weird. My daughter was the "Mom, I want to do it myself" kind of kid and she would call and RSVP if it was a party for one of her friends.

My DS was exactly like that (and I so encouraged it) and the cutest part at those young ages was seeing them on the phone and the phone would look so BIG to their little hands and little heads...

I think it is weird cause around here the parents rsvp to parties. Also it was weird cause again I could not hear her at all. I think it would be different if the child was like this is so and so and my mom said that I can go to the party. Nothing like that happen. If a child call to speak with my daughter to rsvp I would be diffently calling the parent to make sure.

She probably asked her mom if she could call your dd and just dialed the number off the invitation. Not realizing which was was the cell or the house phone. As for not hearing her...She could of been holding the phone funny and not all the way to her mouth..

My daughter just had her 7th birthday. Most of the RSVP's came from the girls telling my daughter at school that they would be going. I hardly had any RSVP's by telephone.
Maybe the girl was shy and that's why you weren't able to hear her. When my daughter started calling her friends, she was nervous to talk with the parents so she hardly spoke except to ask for her friend. When her friend got on the phone she was fine. My daughter has a friend like that too, when the girl calls she will ask for my daughter. I am the one that asks how school was, etc. I try to get her to open up to me and it's starting to work, but some kids are like that with adults.

Maybe... the mom told her to call (since it was her invitation) and rsvp so she could start learning how to do things like that.. and she was shy and a little nervous like the OP said.

Maybe I fidn it weird cause this is the first time it has happen. I told the girl that my dd will call her later tonight when we get home.

I know this will be the beginning of no more phone usage for mom anymore!!!! How old until she will be asking for her own phone line?!!
