Well the first draft of DD's IEP was in her backpack the last day of school before break. I was more focused on the holidays and everything else that was going on so I didn't take a look at it. That and well quit frankly it always depresses me a little bit. DD is HF ASD and because of the nature of IEP's it goes into details of your child's deficits and I as the mom just see how incredibly far she has come. I must admit they have changed the format so it is much easier to read. There is a new section that was "other opportunities to socialize with typical piers" Well she has religious ed and girl scouts. This is on top of OT and 1 on 1 swim lessons. Any way now I am conflicted. I have been a stay at home mom since my oldest was born, Oh I did have Christmas jobs but not this year. When the kids went back to school I started looking for a job. At first any job but then I thought if I'm really going to get up and go to work I might as well do something that I like. Anyway I really didn't get much response from all the applications and resume's I had sent out. Then yesterday I got a call and I have a interview on Tuesday. The job is at a bakery that has a retail store so the hours would be similar to a traditional retail job. At first I was thinking that I would just work when the kids were at school and or DH was home from work. Now I am wondering if I should say. He give me 2 days a week that I am working in the middle of the day and put DD is day care since it would be a chance for her to be social with other kids. Any thought. DD does have friends, a set of twins that she will do anything with but they are wanting not to have to play with her everyday on the playground now so... Just want some other special parents input.

Most daycares are not well enough informed to provide a supportive and non abusive enviroment for or kids. There are certainly exceptions but great care must be taken.

Have you ever though to applying for a paraprofessional position in your local school district. Parents of special needs children often make some of the best and the schedule matches our children’s.

Their actually is a great daycare, near by. We used them 4 years ago during the summer when she "didn't qualify" :confused3 for summer school. But yes I know what you are talking about. And when you tell them the situation the do what I call "the recoil"
