Hi, I have just had a call from Jacki at atimeshare.com, Disney have ok'd our contract at BWV. Not long now til we get a countdown, How long by the way? What is the next step? I forgot to ask jacki :rolleyes2 Ian :cool1:

Great news!

I didn't buy resale so I'm not sure how long it takes - I expect someone will know :)

Hi Ollie

Glad to hear you passed ROFR

My wife and I (Desire 2b a princess) are waiting to hear back from the Timeshare store about the same thing..... so how long did you have to wait ?

Congratulations!

Good luck with your planning :)

Welcome!

I hope you don't have to wait too long to be in the system, then the planning can really begin :wizard:

Ian

Congratulations on finally getting your DVC. We had the same good news yesterday from Jaki too. We've got through the Disney ROFR as well and we now own our DVC at OKW. I'm waiting on the next steps too, but I guess Jaki will send that on when she picks up her e-mail today.

To answer the other question it is two weeks since we first placed our offer for the resale. It took a week to get the contracts signed by both parties, and the checks to be done - to validate the points and current status of the contract. Then it was passed to Disney for their ROFR while the transfer of our deposit payment took 5 working days from the UK to the US.

Congrats ollie and StuartD :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Do you know which closing service Jakie uses?

I've bought resale a couple of times. After you pass ROFR it will take another week or so for the closing (you'll have to send your final check, etc). From that point it can take another 10 to 14 days until you're in the DVC system and can start making your first reservation.

Within about 1 month after that you'll receive the file box from DVC with all of your papers.

It took forever for our member cards to arrive though. If you haven't receive those within about a month of being in the system, you might want to call DVC MS.

Hi Ian, no, I don't know which closing co. she uses, thanks for the added info. Do you think it is poss for us to book for this March 26th on? I know we will be cutting it fine, but can we book for the next week or so after receiving our membership and entering the system? We would like to get a 9 day trip in at VWL (your home I notice) using some of our banked points. Ian

Ian,

Last year when I bought my VWL resale, I had started the whole process in late February and made my first booking towards the end of March. You've already passed the ROFR hurdle so you're nearly there. Everything from this point on is going to be the deed/title search (that doesn't take long) and the paperwork. If when you need to send your final check (or should I say cheque) if you can expedite it that will help. The only other possible SNAFU that could happen is that the sellers don't do their piece of paperwork signing promptly. I have heard of buyers who had signed the paperwork and had gotten (pardon my Elizabethian conjugation of the verb "to get) everything in quickly only to be held up waiting for the sellers.

I know that's a long answer I know, but if there's availability, I think you have a shot at it.

I've been through buying resale a couple of times (I bought a tiny OKW contract) and both times it was speedy. For the OKW purchase, it all happened from beginning to end in about 3 weeks and I was in the system!

You'll love VWL, it's a great resort and our favorite. There is a TON to do there besides the parks. Remember you get a DVC discount on boat and bike rentals. We really like to rent a boat and go out on the lake and over the water bridge to the MK area. You can also rent bikes and there's a trail through the woods that takes you to FW, where there is a petting zoo. Nice place to bike over to for lunch and a look around.

I'm now going through buying another tiny contract at BWV because we would like something in the Epcot area, and I just entered the ROFR process yesterday. If I pass, I'll then be on the other end trying to sell my tiny OKW contract. So guess, I will by that point have seen both sides of the transaction!

Ian
