I could be wrong but I think you have to 'activate' your card before you can reload it. If that's the case, you won't be able to do that until you get the actual card.
ETA: You can activate it from the email they send you, however, bear in mind that once activated it can be used so, if it was to go missing in the post, somebody could use it as it would already be activated.
From the FAQ on the website:
A. You must sign your FairFX Currency Card as soon as it is received. You must then activate it before you can access your account. You can activate your card online at www.fairfxcard.com. You will need your activation code, which will have been sent to you by email shortly after you ordered your card.
I must admit, I've just seen the rate and am wishing I wasn't at work so I could stick some more money on mine (can't reload it at work because of the extra security part of the payment site)
