Just off Wonder, 2 changes that I didn't know about

We just finished b2b on the Wonder. We had a awesome time. Everything was so awesome.

These aren't complaints, just 2 changes that I had not read about.

1- On the MDR menus, they no longer had the dessert 3 item "sweet temptations" offered. This was my kids favorite dessert choice. I wonder if that is fleet wide. It really was fine, sometimes we would just order 2 desserts and/or share with each other to taste a 2nd dessert.

2- One page Navigators. We got the full fold out on each embarkation day, but each day thereafter was just the middle foldable insert page. It was fine with me as I tend to use the app more frequently, but I did miss reading the paper each evening. I remember when hey trialed a 1 page navigator in Sept 2016 and it was not received well. I wonder if this is a change fleet wide?

Interesting about the dessert menu, this is the first I've heard of it.

My cruise on the Magic in Oct/Nov 2016 also had the 1 page Navigators.

the Fantasy is the only ship that still has the full Navigators everyday - the other 3 have full on the first day and 1-page afterwards. Sweet Temptations deserts were on the menu on the March 18 Fantasy, so it is not fleetwide.

I had read about both of those changes. I do hope that the other ships keep the Sweet Temptations. We'll be on the Magic next summer. DD12 LOVED getting Sweet Temptations every night on our Wonder Alaskan cruise last summer...too bad they stopped that!

On the Magic a couple of weeks ago we had Sweet Temptations.

I thought the Navigator change would bug me, but it really didn't. I had all the information I needed with the one sheet and the app.

I have to admit that there were a few things I missed on our recent Wonder trip. The sweet temptations was one of them as we had this on the Dream in November. This was the first time on the Wonder but I felt it was lacking a bit in ways I hadn't seen on the other ships. Maybe these are just general Disney cutbacks as the OP wondered about, no pun intended.

I got off the Dream a month ago, sweet temptations was still a go. Could just be the Wonder or a recent change.

I swear sweet temptations was still a thing on our 7 day Wonder over NYE, at least some of the time... b/c one of the three was always the sugar-free dessert option, so I never got it for that reason. (I get migraines from artificial sweeteners and it's not worth the effort to find out what exactly is sweetening the sugar-free stuff.) In any case, most of us ended up getting 2 desserts and tasting each others' food anyway, so we basically made our own dessert tasting!! :)

The Navigator reduction was actually a hot topic here when it first came out. A lot of the regular posters contacted DCL to complain.

Yes, my wife noticed that too in February. Think of the old 4 - 8 page Navigators, as your home town newspaper (or even better, the competitor afternoon newspaper), and the Navigator App on the cell phone that almost everyone carries constantly, as the source of news/socialization/information that takes its place.

In other news, they hardly sell Kodak, err Fuji, film in the parks anymore.

None of the more recently posted Wonder menus have the Sweet Temptations option listed for any of the standard rotations:

Yep, I guess we will just order multiple deserts going forward. :thumbsup2

By the time I get an appetizer, soup, and main course (along with a taste of the bread)..........I am so full that I can maybe manage a bite of dessert. That must be why I didnt notice the menu change on either or Feb or March Wonder sailings. :rotfl2:

We noticed both of these changes on the Wonder in Jan. I could understand the Navigator because it can be a waste to print all those pages when people can look at the app. The sweet temptations didn't make any sense. They just take smaller pieces of existing deserts.

I'm totally bummed about the one-page Navigators... We like to park our smartphones in the safe the day we get on the cruise, and not get them out again until the end of the cruise!!

So, is the only way to know hours of eateries, OBB desk, etc through the app now?!?

No, that info is still available on the abbreviated forum of the Navigator. You can see what they look like here:

Bummed about the navigators, but I ordered the sweet temptations a few times and never liked it.

I just got off the Wonder last week and missed the sweet temptations. I really like to try a little of everything for dessert.

I really like the one page Navigator. It was much easier to fold up and stick with my key card in my lanyard. I never carried it around before because it was too bulky. We do use the app, but I like having the paper too.
