Got to experience a new perk… would meet concierge hosts in Crown and Fin 30 min before WD theater showtime… there was a cart with popcorn buckets and non-alcoholic beverages. Once loaded up, they escorted us through a “secret” passage into the theater where we could pick our seats 10 min before they opened the main doors, which was 20 min before showtime. We did this for all three shows presented during our four night cruise

Cool! That is a great new feature to look forward to.

How fun!

Interesting that cruising has come full circle. Used to be different classes of passengers on the great transatlantic ships. Then by the time the Love Boat hit TV in 1976, ships had eliminated classes and gone to everyone is the same.
Now were are back to First Class and Steerage! LOL.

Ya I kinda felt guilty for getting in early… especially when you knew that there were people outside waiting for the front row for Frozen etc. But I was surprised that none of the early arrivals ever took the first row. We would go about 5 or 6 rows up in the center. It was usually 20 people that took advantage of that “lightning lane

The front row is too close. The only reason to choose the very front row is if you're worried about people sitting in front of you and blocking the view.

Agreed… anyway there were still lots of seats open. About 1800 guests on board they said

Hope that is true for all the ships as I always end up waiting outside the doors 30 min prior to the doors opening so we can get a closer seat for our daughter. She likes to be as close as possible to the action.

I guess we will find out on the Wish come the first week of August, when we sail next.

Thanks for the info - that is an interesting and pretty cool perk! We are sailing concierge on the Wonder in two weeks, so I'm soaking up any last minute information there is. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.... 1) who were your concierge hosts for the trip? and 2) can you still show your room card for freshly popped popcorn outside of the movie theatre? I know that some concierge hosts might have been leaving their contract before the Hawaiian sailings - but I'm very curious and don't want to tie up phone lines for a question that's not essential. :)

I wouldn't feel guilty, you paid a premium for that privilege. But as a 42 year cruiser, it is amusing to me that the effort to make cruising affordable and main stream and caused a huge boom in people cruising, is now going the other way.

Thanks for the great tip! I am also on the Hawaii trip, traveling concierge, and wondering who the hosts are. I know it won’t be Glen, as he is moving over to the Wish. We’ll miss him, but hopefully catch him when we sail on the Wish this fall.

1). Angeline, Alina, and Mariela were the hosts. Yovanna running the coffee/lounge and Patric on the happy hour bar. I didn’t really catch any info on who was coming or going, but Angeline said she was planning a wedding (hers).
2). Yes free popcorn at Preludes and outside the movie theater, but they do swipe the card and have you sign.

We noticed that while drinking at Cadillac and assumed that is what it was for. We never had any issues getting good seats the regular way, typically center rows 3-4, but compared to Florida cruises the shows did seem to get more people, so I would get there early. Maybe because the San Diego cruises had more first timers. We could get to the theater line about 20 minutes before.

I must say, I really hope this sticks around. I think it's a great perk, especially with the price tag of concierge. I look forward to experiencing it in June!

I am giggling at the idea that any passenger on any Disney Cruise ever would feel like "steerage."

This also cracks me up and, as a teacher, also makes me feel like we need a history lesson. But my husband always jokes that I want to put us in steerage, which I find humorous since our first time sailing concierge is this June! I know he's going to be insufferable about sailing in a regular stateroom after this trip.

This was our 9th cruise, but first in concierge... it was definitely sweet. Not sure if I'll be able to go back to a "regular" stateroom next time...
