Well I wrote the other day about being scared of sailing into intense weather bc of tropical storm Franklin...I'm here to report back that we had an amazing cruise despite the crazy weather! We weren't able to port in Cozumel on Monday since Franklin was passing over then...we had an extra sea day and the captain tried to keep us as far away from bad weather as possible. The seas were still very rough Sunday night and all day Monday. There were 14 foot waves all around and the boat was rocking like crazy. I was popping Dramamine like candy and also wore sea bands and used the motion ease oil behind my ears. My husband and 6 year old son weren't affected at all but I was pretty green as well as many onboard. If you're sailing during hurricane season make sure to pack proper sea sickness medication just in case...I felt so much better after this medication even with the rocking. I was pretty disappointed we'd missed a port but of course understood that it had to happen...Disney did a fantastic job as usual of taking care of us and keeping us all safe! We went on to visit the rest of the ports and had such a great time!

We booked our next cruise while onboard...the 5 night repo San Juan to Miami on Nov. 30 2018. Can't wait even though it's forever away!!

Glad to hear you had a great cruise, even if you did have to deal with a bit of motion sickness.

Waiting for a cruise is sooo hard. If it makes you feel better our next cruise isn't until Feb. 2019 and it isn't even with DCL! We wont be on DCL again until Spring 2020. Boo!

Just curious since we're sailing this Thurs, how many days did you have the choppy seas? On Monday, were you in rain or had the captain steered around it (were you able to be out on deck)? Glad you had a great cruise!

Glad you had a great cruise.
My question is do the sea band work? I am getting things for my cruise and I am planning on buying Bonine Motion meds and crystallized ginger. Don't know if I should include the sea bands.

I have seasickness, and Bonine does the trick for me, I start the night before the cruise and take one tablet at bedtime each night. No more issues, thankfully!!
Have fun!

I saw on the DCL Blog, that the Fantasy is not stopping in Tortola this week due to the heavy rains they had last week, they are going to St. Maarten instead.

I was on that cruise too and while I didn't see your previous post, my family was laughing at me for tracking the storms Friday. ;) We have gone through this before so we weren't too concerned but on our drive down we were speculating where we may end up going (we once got diverted to San Juan instead of St Maarten).

I'm surprised to hear 14 feet though. Did Captain Fabian say that? I thought I had heard 4-6 feet. I could have easily heard wrong/missed an announcement though.

I'm glad to see you had a good time!

I'm not the OP but I get extreme sea sickness and sea bands are a life saver. I wear them and take bonine. If things get really bad I will take Dramamine as well.

I'm confused. I thought the Fantasy sailed Saturday to Saturday with Friday being the Castaway Cay day?

Sea Bands work great for me and my DD. We have used them on the ship, on road trips (we get car sick), on rides that give us motion sickness and they have been life savers. I hate the way Bonine makes me feel, so I am so glad that Sea Bands exist! I guess they don't work for everybody, but I sure am glad they work for us.

Yes. What in the post indicated otherwise? They may have just gotten home or able to get online on Monday.

A case of poor reading comprehension. I read Cozumel and saw Canaveral.

We have booked the eastern for 22nd sept 2018 as that's the only one we can afford or we can't go

I hope the weather is ok

Any advice from you guys, on your sept eastern cruises if u have been on one

I took and Eastern in April however is was around a time where there was a earth quake in South America and going south across what they described as the "gulf stream" was actually the worst ever seas we've ever had. My ODD ended up vomitting and I never get sick and was really queasy.... thankfully we had brought bonine so that made it all better and my kids took dramamine and odd wore seabands and it was fine... but for a full day it sucked, the crew even admitted that some of them were getting green
