Just off the Fantasy - 7 night concierge in 1 bed suite 12014.
Had a fantastic time - love the room. Quiet. Right opposite concierge lounge so very handy to nip across to get tea etc.
Concierge staff were incredible.

Down side: Upon entering the room on embarkation day the bathroom sink emitted a fowl sewerage odor - we immediately reported this but it took them 3 days of rooting around in the drains to "fix" the issue. In the meantime we stopped using the sink and put the stopper in to stop the smell - it helped a bit but not completely. After 3 days though they seemed to remedy the situation.

Cabana 25 on Serenity bay: great cabana location - really lovely - would choose this one again.
My husband however was injured as he adjusted the head rest on the lounger - apparently all the screws had ripped out of the wood ( not visible at first look) causing the who;e head rest part to fall down and land on his foot. Very badly bruised - in pain for the rest of the day. We pushed the button for help - they took about 15 mins to come and then the cabana helper just stood around while i went to cookies to get ice to put on it. Only after i made a fuss did someone come by and take "notes" and then try and tell me that all the furniture is checked every day.... I did take pictures of the broken part and the injury and also showed him how badly ripped the cushions were as well and he then backed down and admitted to maybe not everything was checked each day. Also the drinks were not cold in the fridge.

Anyway when we got back on the boat it appears disney have offered us 25% off another cruise and a $400 on board credit for another cabana on that cruise so I can't complain too much.

One question I do have though is I had loaded onto our on board account $1600 in $100 disney gift cards. I only sent half of that so they told me that they would refund those cards. Would that be $800 onto 8 different cards ( $100 on each) or $800 onto 1 card? And does anyone know when that might occur?

Thanks

Refunds are credited back in reverse order of how they were paid. So the most recently applied gift card would be refilled first, up to whatever that gift card was to start with. Then the gift card that was used second to last, up to it's limit, and so on. It's usually pretty quickly after the completion of the cruise.

The last time I used a gift card on my on-board account and had a refund, I was able to use the refunded amount later on disembarkation day at the Orlando airport Disney store.

That is what I thought would happen and have read should happen but was not the case with mine. I had paid with gift cards and our table mates had used our gold discount in the stores. She had said she was just going to pay me I cash so I had gone down and or another gift card on. She ended up just going to guest services though and applied the money to my account. Instead of it going on that last card, it went on a different one. So just be sure to check all the card balances. Important when paying with gift cards to hang onto them

Thanks for the trip report.

Interesting the only comments are about GC.

Glad to hear you had a great time regardless of your obstacles.
Sorry to hear about an injury on CC at SB.

If you need attention for an injury or anything actually the FB is where to be IMO.
Much more host activity fwiw.

BTW, wooden chairs on SB in a Cabana falling apart, at $400. WTH I've heard things are falling apart over there, but the chairs. Heard of the the Cabana host failures. We have always known service standards are less at SB. But chairs ? ? ? Medical attention. ? ? ?

It's unfortunate you had to become concerned about a response when in need.
It also unacceptable to have a lack of response.

Perhaps one day in the future you will make up for this horrible day some how.

It does sound like DCL did come thru in the end, if that's your thing.
It just unfortunate they failed to come thru when you did need them.
Although, it also makes one wonder, why so fast.
They know their product is falling apart and can hurt people.
But we will wait for it to occur before we do squat about it.
This sounds familiar. lol.

DCL doesn't just hand out 25% off coupons for no reason.
In fact it's extremely rare IME. Especially in individual circumstances.
Did they make you sign something?

How bad was DH hurt?

TIA

Yeah the dreaded odor in the baths. Please don't feel lonely. This complaint is a regular one. Not so much on the Fantasy though. But often reported across all vessels at sea at some point.

We too have had some scents aboard the Fantasy. First thing to do is pour water down the floor drains. Then all the drains.

After that call the Concierge, lol.

This problem can affect many cabins. Ironically if it is truly an issue outside of the floor drains it likely affects other cabins. Maybe. Talk to your neighbors.

We travel with several types of air fresheners for this very reason.

Of course in a T on the Fantasy the toilet rooms have a ceiling grate that is ventilating the room constantly.

So if this scent continues are all the doors closed as normal, ie; balcony door closed, not left open at night, etc, main cabin door closed as normal, then it's a plumbing issue.
The ship works on a vacuum for the HVAC. That can affect the plumbing. The cabin is under negative pressure. It is sucking air out of the cabin/drains. It could be sucking stink out of the drains.

If above doesn't work, and doors are closed as normal, HVAC normal, then cover ceiling vents in baths with paper/material. We used an 8.5 X 11 piece of copy paper. Light enough, and it stuck to the vent in the master bath. Problem solved. Maybe. lol

Also you may be closing the toilet room door in the master bath, when you should be leaving it open.
Same rules. If you close the door with the vent. The vent is too strong and sucking the scent from the toilet. Often if you leave the door open it solves the problem.

Of course inexplicably it can work the opposite too. Go figure.

Or the vents in the toilet rooms are to powerful and are sucking air out of said drains regardless of water in the traps.

We were on a rocky sailing once and that perpetuated the issue fwiw.

This rarely affects the upper deck though. Especially on the new builds.

Work the vacuum problem logically after filling all traps, using the doors and ventilators.

Recap;
fill all drains with a gallon of water - test
close all toilet/bath door - test
open all toilet/bath door - test
If multi bath cabin switch it up - test
cover grates in ceiling with light weight paper or something, one at a time - test
turn down HVAC - test
turn up HVAC - test

Realize it's a vacuum issue, and figure it out for DCL, or whichever line you may be sailing.
Spread the word.

Call Concierge, lol.

Rewrite the software for toilets aboard mega cruise ships.

Then report back to this thread regardless of results.

Or bring some type of air freshener.

Good Luck

The smell was coming from the plug hole in the right sink only - nowhere else. Could only be cured if we replaced the plug therefore leaving the sink in question out of use.
Yes the screws of which there are 4 that hold the headrest part of the lounger in place and operate the height of the headrest were not connected in any way to the the main part of the lounger - in fact all the holes were rotted so it would not have held in place anyway but we could not see that. I wanted my head rest lower, we had not even used them so my husband was stood by the side of the lounger and lifted the locking bar to adjust and therefore this resulted in the whole headrest ( which is heavy)falling through the gap and landing corner first straight onto his foot - boy did he cuss - he was white for about an hour and in real pain. I immediately pushed the yellow call button and got some cold facecloths from the fridge and made a compress but no one came - I must have pushed that button 5 times - after 15mins I went out onto the lane and shouted for the helper ( who was parked at the top of the lane in his golf cart ) to come down. He then got help in the form of two employees from the island who then just stood and discussed the furniture, I had to go to cookies and get my own ice !!!!!!!!!
I then insisted someone took a report and thats when a guy in a white shirt came and took notes - he was the one who tried to tell me all the cabanas were checked before each guest. That when i showed him the pics of the cabana on our arrival with the torn cushions and the exact time of the photos with the broken lounger after the injury. Husband is ok but spent the day in a fair amount of pain and has a large bruise. But ok.
Yes they offered the $400 credit for cabana on next cruise and they offered the 25% off the next cruise 3 days after the smell in the room was fixed as concierge liased with onshore.
No i did not sign anything as of yet. It may come with the voucher.

You can use disneygiftcard.com to combine multiple gift cards on to one up to $1,000 per card. This will make it much easier for you to pay and obtain a refund going forward. The site is very straightforward and easy to use.
