We had a wonderful time, loved the Disney Magic. If anyone is taking a holiday cruise and is interested in the gingerbread house making, sign up as soon as you board. The line at guest services was super long at 1:30 pm so we decided to try again at 3. Well we were told all the times for the gingerbread house making were given out. Not a single spot left at 3 pm... We were very disappointed only 150 spots were made available on a 5 night cruise. Got over it quickly and it didnt ruin our vacation, but had we known I would have waited at 1 pm. On the flip side they had tons of times available for the Frozen meet and greet, which by the way included Olaf!
If anyone has any questions about the Magic, or the Very Merrytime Cruise just ask :)
I saved all the Navigators too.

We leave next Friday 18th on the 5 night Disney Magic our first cruise ever and are super excited - what were your favourite Merrytimecruise things to do, what were you not so bothered about, any top tips or must do's?

we did the gingerbread making on the Dream last year and were lucky enough to get one of the spots as it went quickly as well.

Loved the tree lighting ceremony on the first day, although it will be super crowded in the lobby so get there early if you would like your kids to have a spot near the front. We also loved Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball, it was held twice during our cruise, first night about 10:15 pm and 1st sea day at 2 pm I think. We didn't go to the first one as it was insanely crowded, it was much much better the next day. If you have the navigator app, you will be able to see what's happening in the days ahead, so that's how we knew that we could also go the 2nd day.
There was also a tropical deck the deck party I believe on the 2nd sea day, it was nice but more kids jumping around on the stage than a show. Could have skipped it, my son wasn't that interested and decided to jump back in the pool. The other thing we could have skipped were the holiday crafts. We went to some and they were not very well organized, guy just threw a bunch of felt pieces and coloured paper, glue around and here you go. Make an ornament. I thought it would be more guided and "mickey" themed.
We enjoyed meeting some of the characters in their holiday attire, other than on Pirate night they all wore Christmas sweaters etc.
The highlight of the cruise for my son was meeting Santa Claus, there were again 2 times available. The line for Santa moved slow, I'd say we waited an hour for him but it was worth it. Santa does spend a couple of minutes talking to each child, will sign an autograph book before taking the photo.
Hope you enjoy your cruise!

We will be on the sailing as well.

Happilyeverafter, do you remember which shows they did? I will make sure to get in line for gingerbread houses and does Olaf sign autographs? My daughter doesn't care about seeing Anna & Elsa (she is 13) but would like to see Olaf.

We were on in November--yes, Olaf signed autographs, and the shows were (for 5 day) Twice Charmed, Tangled, and Dreams.

We just got off the dream and did the gingerbread.

A word of caution - sign up for the earliest date possible. You can NOT take the gingerbread off the ship. So if you make the house and have any intention of eating it, you must do so before you leave the ship.

We were on the 3 day and made the gingerbread house on Sunday at 11am so had less than 24 hours to eat it. That's a surprisingly high amount of sugar for a short time frame.

Sorry I wasn't logged in for a couple of days, but it looks like someone answered your question. Those were the shows plus the Welcome aboard show and John Charles music comedy show. We previously didn't really like the first night show on the Fantasy (Fantasy come true?) but we actually liked the Magic's Welcome Aboard show. It previewed John Charles who was great. He got the audience to sing some Christmas carols but will not give any more away ;)
Enjoy your cruise!

We have seen John Charles before so that is great and I am excited to see the new Tangled show and Disney Dreams makes me tear up everytime. (I have no idea why!) We are packed and ready to go. Was Olaf only with Anna & Elsa or other meet & greets on the ship?

I think we just kept it in our room as decoration. I dont remember eating it.

I was on the Dec 4 - 9 Magic Very Merrytime Cruise. As far as I know, Olaf was only with Anna & Elsa for a meet and greet. However, if you go to the shows, you may get a nice song sung by Olaf himself. :)

There was no Olaf by himself for meet & greet but they did add a Frozen element to the Disney Dreams show.
I won't spoil anymore if you haven't seen it. I love Disney Dreams as well, it was right up there with Tangled.

Just off the Magic as well! It was a great cruise, and we really enjoyed the additions to Disney Dreams and Tangled was everything I hoped it would be. Added to that we saw The Force Awakens at 7PM, what a great movie!

Bobbiwoz--

Thanks for organizing the candy exchange. What a fantastic, whirlwind of a cruise. Tangled was such a great production, and loved the edition of the Frozen vignette to "Dreams". The performers were very talented, especially the main ones (Flynn, Rapunzel, Mother).

The Star Wars theming was great! I spent a small fortune on SW/DCL souvenirs. My kids (ages 8 and 11) and I had late seating, so we went to the 10:15 2D show, then loved it so much we went back to see it in 3D at 12:45AM. We've only had about 3-4 hours sleep, so they are asleep in the back seat now as we drive to Orlando!

This 5 day cruise was our shortest, but we packed in so much in that time, it was amazing! We had Christmas, Star Wars, Tangled, Pirate Night... A great way to kick off our Christmas break. I think my kids and I will remembering going to see SW together on the ship for years to come....

That's a wonderful memory you'll have! I only bought the special pin, so my out of pocket cost was not that great!
We enjoy your candies! I like having little sweets with me and so does Tom. We have a long ride ahead of us tomorrow as we head to Cape May NJ, so they will help sweeten the journey for us! Thank you for participating.

Just got off the ship today. Loved the new Tangled show and the addition to Disney Dreams. We saw Anna & Elsa and then Olaf came in after. He was super cute! My only complaint was that they cancelled our Welcome Aboard show for Star Wars. Some of us are NOT Star Wars fans and while I understand that most are it was just super annoying to have nothing to do our first night. Star Wars premiered in the big theater and was also playing in the regular theater at the same time which left us with absolutely nothing to do. Would have watched a movie out by the pool but that was in Spanish so that didn't work it either. I felt this cruise didn't have as many activities as others we have been on. Still had a great time though.
