Just odd??😆😆

That is a 14 hour flight. I will never be that brave.
I'm confused. Did you think the emergency exit aisle seat would be empty? That's delusional. We're you constantly checking the seating chart to see if that seat was reserved? Paranoid.

You might have a point if you booked aisle window near the back of the plane. No "normal" person would select that middle seat if numerous better seats where available.

Selecting the aisle seat, next to the couple is the polite thing to do. Leaving the 2 seats for a couple makes sense. The single aisle seat may have been the suggested seat.

I never try to guess the mindset of a fellow flyer. There could be lots of reasons for the seat choice.

When I choose an aisle for my husband, I will usually put him in the furthest forward free seat on the left side, because he is right-handed, so he is not always bumping into the person next to him when he is on his phone. So if there was an empty row vs a row with someone in it, I would still choose that seat. The plane is going to fill up, anyway.

This is my daughter's and her husband's flight to Japan next year on Delta. When she looked today, someone picked the seat that was sitting directly beside them, even though there are SO MANY rows available with no one sitting in them! What? Really? 🤪🙄🤪🤪 This really made her anxious about the situation. She ended up upgrading to a two seat row in Delta Premium Select for a pretty penny.

I can't blame her though, this sort of thing happened to me once in a doctor's office waiting room, and I too moved seats.😆😆

I don't find it weird since it is an exit row. What was weird for me was sitting between a couple who booked an aisle and a window (I understand people do this hoping no one fills the seat between them) I had no choice. The whole trip they were passing things back and forth to each other and talking and laughing. I asked if either would care to switch and they declined. It was so awkward
