I am so frustrated....just got through talking to someone (whom I have to say was WONDERFUL and FRIENDLY and could not have been nicer) at Disney Cruise lines. We had a trip booked but we have to change it due to a new baby coming.......We were all set with a great room that was handicapped acccessible for 4 people...yeah...great...but now we have to change it to a room for 5 people that is handicapped accessible and guess what..........no such thing:( We have to either get 2 rooms, squish into a room for 5 that is not accessible(which means W.C. folded up in the tub when DS is asleep and lots of lifting from the hallway to the bed or upgrade ourselves to a suite that is so much more $$$$$$$ we can't afford it. I know this is no- ones fault...I am just so frustrated. We could have all fit into the room for 5 if we didn't need the accessibility......grrrrr . The 2 rooms would not be connected because there are no connecting rooms that connect with the handicapped rooms.......They are also in a lower catagory and the reason we pay for a higher catagory is so DS can sit on the verandah in his chair (which he loved) When is someone going to make rooms in hotels, boats etc large enough for a family.I really don' t want to I am just venting!!!!Thanks for listening, I feel much better......:D

PD coming your way.I hope your cruise is magical. BTW congrats on the new Baby!

JMO, but I think when they design some of these ships, parks, malls, etc. It ought to be mandatory you have a handicap person help with the design. Then maybe they would get it right.

Anyway I hope you have a great time. Let me know hwo it turns out.

It sometimes feels like we are being punished for having a family that has one person in a wheelchair. I would think they would have 1 or 2 rooms for families with WC's. They do have rooms for families of 5 without WC's..oh well

More PD coming to you. I agree with mhopset. They need to have people with disabilities involved in design of things - different disabilities would be even nicer since what is accessible to (for example) a paraplegic might not be at all accessible to (for example) someone who needs to be lifted in or on.

I don't really understand where the difference is. Is it because the baby would be in a crib? Because if you might consider co-sleeping with the baby during the trip (if that is possible for you) then it wouldn't be any difference at all and you could still have the WC accessible room for "four" even though you also have an infant.
I just thought I'd mention this because even though a lot of hotels, cruises, etc say maximum 4 in the room- a baby doesn't count. And the only way you wouldn't fit is if the room is so small that it won't accomodate a crib. We have travelled many times since my 3rd child (who is 2.5yrs old now) where the room was only "for four people maximum) but even though we technically have 5 it was no problem. We just co-slept with the youngest. Actually if the beds were big enough (like queen or double) we'd just put all 3 children together... once the baby got a bit older ofcourse. I wouldn't put a very young infant in bed with 2 older children).
Just a thought. I hate for your plans to be ruined because you were blessed with another child! I know how you feel though. If you put 5 (2 adults, 3 children) in any reservations almost all of them will say you need 2 rooms or a suite. :( I don't know WHAT we'll do when she gets older and actually takes up more room (even with co-sleeping) LOL
