Asking for opinions:
Our choices for resorts are BWV, OKW and SSR - Boardwalk is a definite, due to proximity to where we want to be. Which is the quietest, least kid crazy resort out of OKW and SSR?
And where should we, as a couple who is not really into "fancy food" (California Grill, Victoria and Albert's) go for a quiet, relaxing, leisurely, not-to-be-missed meal?
The boyfriend is a salt of the earth type guy, outdoor labor, a little rough around the edges and I adore him. The fancier places are just going to make him uncomfortable, and as this is his first time at WDW, I want him to have the best time possible. Thanks!

do yourselves a favor...go over to coronado springs and eat at the maya grill...plus, im a chef there, so i promise it'l be great;)

As far as resorts... I have no clue on that part, sorry. The restaurants I can help with though :)

The best bet would be to take a look at the menus and find stuff that you'd both eat. Note that menus can, and will change, but the basic outlines remain similar. The vast majority of restaurants are not all that fancy at all, while only a select few (really a subset of the signatures) are a bit more upscale.

Some of my favorites, keeping the OP's stuff in mind (pfft, it's almost 4am here so my brain isn't quite running fully :p):

Epcot/Epcot Area (YC/BC/Boardwalk):
San Angel Inn, Hacienda de San Angel, Via Napoli: The first two are located in Mexico (hey, I have a think for Mexican, what can I say) and are a bit more low key than the average Disney restaurant. The food is great at both as well. Do check the menus first though, as they are not your typical "Mexican" restaurants and serve a bit more traditional type of food. I also prefer San Angel Inn's lunch to their dinner, but that's mostly just based on the menu offerings and me being so darn picky. Via Napoli is located over in Italy and has some great brick-oven pizzas. Very thin crust with some char on them, so they aren't your typical Dominoes/Pizza Hut style, it's a bit more reflective of actual Italian pizza. It can get a bit noisy though.

Over at the boardwalk, I love Flying Fish Cafe. While it's a signature, it's not as formal as some of the others. It's very good and well worth a trip over to the Boardwalk.

MK/MK Area (Poly, GF, Contemporary):
Inside the park, my two favorites are The Plaza and Liberty Tree Tavern. LTT is a bit more lower key than The Plaza, which can get a little noisy, but both have a bit more simple fare and will more than likely appeal to your more simple fare liking other half. I do prefer lunch at LTT over the family style dinner, but again, that's because I'm weird and picky.

AK/AK Area (AKL and AKV)
I do like Tusker House's breakfast, but it is a character meal and thus may not fit your needs. Nothing else inside the park interests me, though I hear good things about Yak & Yeti. Of course, the whole pickiness thing comes up and ruins it for me!

Both Boma at AKL and Sanaa at AKV are very good though and you should certainly consider them. The menus are a bit more exotic, but not so much that you won't find something you like (unless you only like hot dogs, but if that were the case, you'd not be looking for restaurants, you'd be eating at Casey's :p)

DHS/DHS Area (BC/YC/Boardwalk)
Inside the park here, I enjoy Mama Melrose quite a bit. The same outside the park ones here for Epcot.

Misc?
I don't do Downtown Disney, so no input there. I'll give props to Maya Grill though for Birdman above. Had 5 meals there in the past 3 years, and only two weren't that great (both in 2010). Of course, the breakfast was likely my fault, since I don't eat eggs (yup, picky). The dinner in 2010 was just one of those things that happens from time to time (overly bland entrees with very slow inattentive server), both dinners in 2009 and the one in 2011 were very good though.

ETA:
If it's just fancier food that makes him uncomfortable, look into both Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge) and Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club). Both are signatures and a little more upscale than the norm, but the food is far from over the top and is very good.

We stayed at BWI. We loved the BW since there is so much to do. It is also nice to walk to Epcot and MGM. The only experience I have with the other two was when we went to the spa at SSR. I thought that the resort was to big and it took forever to get around. DBF has golfed there before and likes the course, not sure if your BF likes to golf, but that is something to keep in mind. I know you didn't mention POFQ, but it's nice for couples.

We also enjoy really good food and ate Victoria and Albert's. It was a fantastic meal, maybe wait until your next trip for something like that. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the TS in Epcot. I have eaten at all of them but China and Norway.

It's also a lot of fun to grab some Fish and Chips and a cider or beer from England and people watch. That is the beauty of eating at WDW. You can get as formal and fancy as you like, or as fun as you want. We have ADRs for the Hoop de do Review in August. Try taking a look at the menu with your BF to decide what he would like to try.

I hope you have a great trip, and it's nice to hear about two people being a perfect match for each other!:goodvibes

How cool. I'm trying to figure out a way to work at WDW. I ate at the Maya Grill many years ago, I hope to get back soon.

There are a lot of great ideas here. For us one of the most important parts of our Disney trip is the food. I would try Reglan Road in Downtown Disney. It's an Irish Pub with great food, drinks and entertainment. There is a nice patio outside as well.

Another fun, laid back idea is drinking around the world at Epcot. If I think of anything else I will let you know.

I hope you have a fantastic time! I love adult only trips!

I agree with ctnurse and Cafteen's suggestions. I LOVE BWV for the convenience to Epcot. There are so many good restaurants at Epcot. My two favorites are Rose and Crown (try to get a reservation about an hour before Luminations and then you can watch Luminations from the patio of the restaurant) and La Cantina de San Angel for quick service lunch.

I enjoyed staying at OKW because it is nice and quiet. Would definitely stay there again. I also have only used the spa at SSR. I'm not really interested in staying there, but I would if my other preferences were full.

As far as upscale dinners, my favorite so far was Narcoossee's (reserve for MK fireworks). California Grill was also good, but I enjoyed the experience at Narcoosee's more. Haven't tried Victoria and Albert's.

Have fun!

It's going back a while for me (went for our honeymoon in 2008), but there was a character dinner at the MK (I think?) that was called The Crystal Palace or something like that, it was a buffet, and all the food was really down to earth type stuff, and absolutely fantastic. I stuffed myself, and wanted to eat more :)

As for resorts, in my opinion, you can make a case for any of them – Especially any of the deluxe or DVC. They all have their charms, advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I always default to any of the Epcot resorts as a preference due to location but as you can see in my signature, I have stayed in quite a variety. I stayed at Saratoga Springs last November with “just me and the girlfriend” and it very much exceeded my expectations. We had a room in Congress Park with a view of Downtown Disney. It was quiet and not too kid crazy (but kids are everywhere at Disney, obviously) I highly recommend this location because it is an easy walk to Downtown Disney which opens up a lot of options for dinner and nighttime activities especially if you are going at a time when the parks are closed early at night. No matter where you stay, I am sure you will have an awesome time!!

Besides the obvious for good (or Decent) food... what are you looking for? Just a nice place to eat? Someplace romantic? a Unique Disney Experience? Something memorable?

If you are just looking for decent food, For the most part, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong with anyplace in the parks. It's mostly going to depend upon your tastes, which the menus available on the Disney website would help you out there.

Someplace Romantic? Coral Reef can have a very cool vibe due to the dimmed lighting and Aquarium windows. San Angel is also great because no matter the time of day, you can have a nice meal on the plaza under the stars. :goodvibes

Unique Disney Experience? 1900 Park Faire... Where you can have your Boyfriend fawned all over by the stepsisters. Or maybe even Cinderella's Royal Table for a meal inside the Castle (And a chance to meet/interact with the Princesses...without having to wait in a line which might make him feel uncomfortable).

Memorable? So many options here. A Drive in movie at the Sci-Fi Drive In. 50's Prime Time where you can get scolded for not eating all your veggies. :) Biergarten with German Musicians, a tasty buffet, and "family style" seating with other people at your table for you to interact with.

Plus there are a ton of other fun things to do (such as drinking around the world. ) with him involving food/drink.

I stayed in OKW with my family (me and my brother in our 20's and our mom and dad) in 2009 and loved it! It was very quiet, and the resort is spread out a little bit, but it helped to make you feel like you weren't surrounded by kids and other families. We were in a one bedroom suite, and it was huge! Great amount of space, you prob won't need this much space with 2 people but it was sure nice to have! Full kitchen, great balcony (huge! had a 4 person table and chairs on it) over looking a little waterway with a fountain, surrounded by greenery, very relaxing!:thumbsup2 Since SSR and OKW are so similar you prob can't go wrong with either one! And then of course any of the Epcot resorts (I'm staying in BC for the first time for my honeymoon in August!) would be wonderful because of the location, but I know they can be super pricey!

I can't comment too much on the food, I've read a lot about the restaurants, but my honeymoon is really going to be the first time I try a lot of the TS restaurants, we're on the DxDDP and I can't wait! :woohoo:

Whichever you choice it will be a great time no matter what! :)

I've stayed at BWV before with my parents (a while ago lol) and I LOVE the energy there, and the proximity to Epcot makes it the perfect location, so that's a definite. I'm leaning more towards OKW for the rest of the trip- did I mention we'll be switching resorts due to a severe lack of time to plan this trip and find a room? BWV is booked for the last four days of our stay because of the Food and Wine Fest, so I HAVE to pick another place to stay. Otherwise we'd be at the Boardwalk the whole time.

I hope you have a great trip, and it's nice to hear about two people being a perfect match for each other!:goodvibes

Thanks! We definitely have our moments but I don't think I could ask for a better guy to be with!

I haven't had any luck getting an ADR at the Sci-Fi Drive in (may have to take our chances with that one) but I do have one for San Angel! :thumbsup2

And I never even thought about the stepsisters as our character dinner! What a great idea! I might actually see him blush!

Also, as you can tell by my previous post, I haven't quite gotten the hang of this quoting business, but thanks for everyone's suggestions! Keep 'em coming, I can use all the help I can get!
