SkipperBubba

and I got married last Oct. 30 and proceeded to WL for our Disneymoon. We ended up with two sets of ears prior to our trip.
The first set a coworker of mine purchased for us in MK's Main Street hat emporium on her April 2004 trip. I want to say I gave her $30-35 for them. When she got back we realized that the groom's tophat was too small to fit The Bubster's size 8 melon (yes, my DH is quite cranially endowed!

). We ended up purchasing a tophat that did fit him, and having his mother move the ears from the first hat to the second! That's the hat he wore on the plane and at check-in.
The second set came to us at my bridal shower, courtesy of my DBIL (Disnutty). My ears in this set were actually sparkly, sequined ones attached to one of those plastic, over-the-whole-head barettes (you know, the things deely-boppers are attached to--forgive my brain lock on the actual name). Those are the one I wore on the plane and at check-in.
The tophat and veil we didn't wear ended up as part of our wedding cake design! Having gone with a sprawling, multiple cake layout instead of a traditional tiered cake, we were able to incorporate a "centerpiece" of the tophat and veil ears with a ceramic Groom Mickey

and Bride Minnie

. Our guests (all 225 of them) agreed it was lovely, and very "us."
Now, you may have noticed I said we wore our official ears for the plane ride and check-in. For the rest of the trip, for the sake of comfort, we went to custom ballcaps I'd had done. They had "bride" and "groom" embroidered on the front of our respective caps, and our names and wedding date on the back of both. These caps worked just as well as the ears in terms of "advertising" our newlywed status. Everyone noticed them, and we got plenty of congratulations. And as an extra added bonus, they were much easier to deal with on the rollercoasters!
We're contemplating wearing the caps in December on our delayed first anniversary trip!
Cheers,
Q
