We just planned (Me31 and DW 30) a trip in August (7th - 13th) (3 nights each place) at Yacht Club and then Poly since me and my wife couldn't decide which resort we would like best, standard view at both. It will be an anniversary trip for me and my wife of 8 years. It is also a trip do the things our kids don't want to do at yet since they are so young. Any input on these resorts or romantic ideas are very much welcome.

Thanks Everyone

To be perfectly honest, when we stayed at the YC in May, we could have just blown off the rest of Disney. We stayed by the pool 6-8 hours a day. It's awesome. SAB has a lazy river, good waitresses and serves a good Jack Daniels Lemonade. We bought inner tubes and floated on the river for hours at a time. I went down the slide some 35 times with my children (good excuse, Caipira...it's for the kids...)

The Polynesian was wonderful for it's views and proximity to the MK and use of the monorail. However, even though it's a beautiful resort, it's not at the level that the YC is as far as what it offers. I think that for adults, though, YC is the top choice because of it's proximity to Epcot for restaurants and shopping and the Boardwalk for the same.

Yet the Polynesian is a sentimental favorite. I am sure you will enjoy it, but my money is on the thought that you will find the YC is far superior a resort.

We've only stayed at the Poly, so it is sentiment favorite. We are splitting our stay in Aug with YC. So I'm new to that also, but looking forward to it.

We did stay 2 nights at the GF, but didn't like it all.

You will Love YC. It is the best. We could vacation there and not ever go into the parks. The Castmembers are the best there. Have a great time

OKSTATE99 - My husband and I just had our first ever WDW vacation without our kids the beginning of May. We stayed at the Swan (very near the YC) and I just wanted to tell you, you will LOVE being in that Epcot resort area. It was fun to stroll along the BW at night with all the pretty lights and boats & we easily walked to Epcot and MGM.

We ate at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse which was just delicious - I highly recommend that one because not only was the food great, but there weren't a whole lot of kids. We tried to do things our kids wouldn't feel like they missed out on. (NO Chef Mickey's for us that time - we would have thought of our kids the whole time) At MGM, we ate at the Brown Derby instead of Primetime cafe or Sci/Fi. Brown Derby was a wonderful restaurant. We tried the English Pub for dinner. It was great, too! We did lots of different things that our kids wouldn't really want to try. They are stuck in their ruts! We just had a terrific time and so much fun and thought, WDW IS for grown ups!!

I have stayed at the YC/BC before and enjoyed it. We also stayed at the Poly before and liked the atmosphere there as well. Try a dinner at O'Hanas! Another yummy one. :flower:

Well, hope you have a super trip! :sunny: Happy Anniversary!

My wife and I will be celebrating our 27th anniversary at The YC in December. This will be our first time at the YC, but from what we have been told and what we have read, its a wonderful place for adults to stay. By the way, if your web name OKSTATE99 refers to the Cowboys, then my wife and I would be OKSTATE79. GO POKES! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks for all your suggestions. `And all your help. I am sure our trip will be great.

I can only speak for the YC/BC but I really like this resort for kids. The pool is great and I like being able to walk to Epcot and ride a boat to MGM. We like that we're not always taking a bus (and my kids really like feeding the ducks on the dock at the YC/BC- they have food for .25 in a machine.) We usually spend one day at the hotel without going to the parks to relax midweek, and my kids still have fun at the pool! We are going to be at the YC in August and I can't wait!!! Goodluck with your decisions, I know you'll have fun no matter where you stay. :earsboy:
