I want to get a long table to put against one wall. Do you think it would work to put the cubes on the table long-ways so the papers would be vertical and open to the table? Does that make sense?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. (esp if you have a lot of paper). or you could get a bookend or something to prop up the paper... maggie

That will be so great, you can just look up and see all your page to have to choose from.

I don't think will work great. Sorry....but I have the cubes too and thought about it. I think the paper will get bent and fold over, especially the corners. Plus when you are looking through it I think it might bent. Plus the width of the cubes will take a lot of table space. (which for me I need a deep table top) I think you would be better off getting an extra long table and then put the wire cubes verticle. Or get a small table next to the big table and put the cubes on.

What kind of cubes are you talking about? Are these the wire ones that you snap together to make square boxes, and then you can place them vertically or horizontally or whichever way? I'd like to know as I already have some of the wire ones. Do you have a pic of them?

Thanks!

They are the wire ones. I don't know how to post pictures so I can't show you. Sorry!
Do you need the instructions to make them for paper? That, I could do. :)

Sure! I've got some assembled upstairs that are serving no purpose right now, and they're already in the vacinity of the desk I'm planning on moving to this week for my scrap stuff. That would be great if I have something already that I can use to store paper in.

Now, the next thing I would need is something to stop me from buying anything else! :teeth:

Essentially what you'll do is make 2 cubes, one on top of the other. With the remaining "walls" you make shelves, securing them to the side pieces with zip ties. (Those plastic doo-dads.) The shelves are about an inch apart.
OK, now I've re-read this and maybe I can't give directions. It's about as clear as mud.
I know there are pictures on two peas. I'll be back...

been there done that ;)
works great!

well - if you have your paper horizontal it works great - but if vertical you need to cut cardboard pieces to put in the bottom so the paper won't get caught on the metal piece -
OR I use the cubes for my theme stuff and bought generations plastic things with my 40 off coupon in a package of 10 and divided my paper by brand (basic Grey, Chatterbox, etc..) then put each brand into a folder and put it in the vertical cubes - I LOVE it as I just grab a folder and have all matching stuff!

Okay, got it. My wire cubes have these little slide thingies that you just attach to the sides of the other wire squares. Do I need to reinforce these with the plastic ties or something? Wow! I can't believe I have a system to store my paper in right here at hand!

That's a great idea! I could see doing a folder for my dd's basketball papers and embellishments, one for ds's hockey stuff, holidays, etc. I have them in an accordion file but it's falling apart.

Mine came with those big round things to hold it together at the corners. There weren't enough of them to hold all the shelves, and the way they're made it wouldn't have fit. If you have enough of the slides for the shelves that would probably be good enough.
I used 2 zip ties on each side of each shelf. I also used one zip tie on the back side of each shelf. DD10 helped me. We may have gone a little crazy with the zip ties. But I wanted to make sure it'll stay together!

Sorry bananiem, I didn't see your link to the picture. Got it now! I've seen those cable ties at Big Lots, so I'll swing by there today if I get the chance. Maybe DS will help me put this together this evening.

Thanks for the link!

So you guys bought these at target? How do they come? Was it one kit or do you buy each cube seperate? How many does it take to do that? I love it. I really need something like that!!!

I've seen these things everywhere---even at my Big Lots for $14.99. Sam's Club and Costco both have them too I think. I've got some that are in primary colors that I'm using as storage in DGS's closet. I had no idea they could be used for scrapping!

They come in a box and it's set to make a "Six-cube wire storage" unit. One box will make two cubes, one on top of the other, with a total of 17 shelves.
The set is usually $19.99 but they're on sale for $12.99 this week!
For a picture, go to www.target.com. Click on Weekly Ad. Use my zip code - 55906. I don't know if all zip codes had this deal this weekend. Click on Home and look for "Organize It wire storage". It's in a picture with a black shelving unit. The thing you want is the white wire cubes. They come in other colors but now you'll know what to look for.

Thanks! I love this idea, I'm going to have to whine to my husband. He should be happy that I'll be getting my scrapping stuff more organized. Right now it's al lpretty much organized except for the 12x12 paper! YOu guys are the best!

Hi, I just found this thread. Its Easter Monday. Last week I just bought those cubes at Sams Club, a set of eight for $25.00. So if I want shelves, I just use part of a cube. Then I would end up making up less cubes.I can't waite to get my scrapbooking room a clean sweep and organized.
