Just lost our V&A ADR ... PANIC!!!!!

We are going in 2 weeks to celebrate our 10th anniversary ... BIG DEAL! We had an ADR at V&A for 10/1 at 5:30 and have been looking for later times. Just saw an opening on MDE for 5:45 and thought we would take it (better than nothing). Apparently you can't change the time, you have to cancel your ADR and then book a new one. So we cancelled and by the time we went back in, the table was gone. I'm FREAKING OUT! Currently calling V&A reservation line and no one is available. Someone please tell me this will be ok.

I'm not sure what happened to you. The system prompt that you have a conflicting reservation and ask if you want to cancel it for the new one. It won't cancel the old one until the new one is confirmed, but it is automatic. Did you see that message and back out of the system to cancel it yourself?

When I was in the system and had conflicting times when trying to book a new ADR, I had to go in and cancel the other one first, then search again for the new one too... and mine was also gone by the time I got back there

Check for the ADR again exactly one hour after you lost it...it usually will pop back up then. Sometimes the one you're trying to book gets lost in the system if there's a conflicting one, but it'll show back up after an hour and you can book it then. Start searching for it again at the one hour point and hopefully it'll be there - don't give up hope!

PHEW! Just got a call back from V&A and they reinstated our 5:30 reservation. No real explanation of why that happened, and it seems like a crappy systematic thing, to have to cancel before securing a new time. But, DH did it so he could have done something wrong somehow. Anyway, we are all set and she put us on the waiting list for a later time. Thank goodness! Crisis averted!

I had to cancel 2 adr's to pick up more desirable adr's about a week ago. I did it both times with 2 browser windows open. One to cancel current adr, and one to pick up new adr. I was afraid that if I didn't, the new adr would be gone by the time I got back to it. Luckily, I was able to cancel in the 1st window, then pick up the new adr in the 2nd window right after the cancellation.
