I just listened to the April 'Ladies Show' where they discussed food at WDW. How about a version of the same topic with the guys? Much as I love listening to Julie, Kathy, Theresa & Leah - it was definitely frustrating hearing a group of pretty picky eaters discussing WDW food!

Maybe the guys are picky too, but I think there are a couple who may be more adventurous :)

I realize that my family & I are at the opposite end of the spectrum - we actively seek out different food to try and really enjoy new flavors. We love Boma and taste almost everything there when we go. We even like Restaurant Marrakesh and since first eating there many years ago searched our local area to find similar food. We've even tried our hand at cooking things like kefta & brewat rolls. (my spelling is probably totally off on those!)

My 13yo son & I are the most adventurous - we love escargot & will try nearly anything once. :cool1: DS has always been like this - before our first DCL cruise when he was 5 we watched something on the Travel Channel on Key West that included Conch Fritters. The first thing he wanted to do when we got to Key West was try them! DH isn't quite as adventurous, but will try nearly anything once and loves experimenting with different flavors.

I would love to hear the guys take on their favorite foods, restaurants, snackage, etc. at WDW. Maybe there would be just as much "eeeww!" "gross!" "disgusting" as the Ladies version, or maybe not :rotfl2:

I'm with Pam - I'd love to hear the guys (not just Kevin/John/Pete) talk about what they like to snack on in the parks. Not that I didn't enjoy the Ladies take on it, I just want to hear more.

I never realized food was gendered, LOL. I am a girl person and I eat like a monster.

Me, too. But I think what the OP was saying is that the Ladies of the April 'Ladies Show' seem to be a little more picky than most. So maybe we could get the rest of the Podcast Team to chime in - which just happen to be all men. I still thoroughly enjoyed the show, though. :flower3:

Yes, exactly! I certainly HOPE that food isn't really gendered this way LOL! If it is, then I really don't fit in with the other ladies ;)

I'd really like to hear the younger guys thoughts. For those of us who have been listening for years, we already know a lot about what Kevin/John/Pete like. Although, I seem to remember Pete is making an effort at trying things outside his comfort zone, so that might be interesting to hear how that is going.

I enjoyed the Ladies. I am picky too. Won't go near escargo. But I love Dole whips and used to buy my Dad Turkey legs which he LOVED. I loved the discussion of eating healthy during your visit however I am amongst those who do not do this. I can eat healthy when I get home. :thumbsup2 But I do try to moderate.

It's the ladies opinions and If they don't like it. Hey more for me.;)

I don't know what I could have said on the show but I am not a picky eater.

Kathy

Just want to reiterate that I certainly enjoyed the show!

Kathy - I honestly don't remember you saying anything in particular, just that by the time the show ended I felt like I had heard "eeewww" "gross" and "disgusting" and "I (or my kids) don't eat that" about 100 times each :rotfl2: in reference to everything from watermelon to turkey legs to nuts. The hatred for Boma was just sad :(

My suggestion was just based on wanting to hear some more adventurous view points. :) Although, to be honest, I don't know if a guy's version would have that or not. The impression I have for Pete/John/Kevin is that they are slightly more adventurous than what I heard from the ladies - but not a whole lot more.

I admit I laughed when Leah and Julie told their traumatic childhood stories with food such as Saurkraut and Goat cheese/milk.

Yeah me too. Only mine entails Meatloaf, Lima beans and those little green peas. None of which I can eat to this day. I think we all have food that our parents foisted on us which we cannot stand. Now I do love Gravy and sour cream which my parents also pushed when I was super picky. So it's a 50/50 shot.

Mine involved turkey hotdogs. They tasted like burnt plastic to me.

I have been to Boma twice and just didn't care for it. I also don't care for the turkey leg just because it tasted like ham not turkey. I like ham but prefer slices of ham not chomping down on a turkey leg.

I don't think everyone likes everything at WDW. That is why there are so many choices. I think we all spoke honestly but it is only our opinion.

I do remember saying I didn't care for sauerkraut. I never stopped anyone from eating it and I do prepare a pretty good sauerkraut recipe that the family loves.

I dont eat grapefruit, eel or anything with tentacles.

I dont care for the taste of lamb. I can eat it, but am not a huge fan.

I'm willing to try most anything, but like everyone, have appreciation for some things and others...not so much.

Now you know where I stand.:thumbsup2

Calamari are so tasty if cooked right (Rhode Island style)

Or...it can taste like deep fried rubber bands.

I will eat the rings....but the tentacle parts....un uh. nope.

They will latch on to my insides and suck out my soul.

I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen (especially after they've been deep fried) but I'm not taking chances.

Yeah, I am not big on the tentacle part either. And cooked poorly they are a bit chewy...

I won't eat mussels or things like that unless I have had a few adult libations and the setting is right (like on a veranda on Block Island or.something like that).

This episode sounds interesting. My commute later this week will be good. I am still a few episodes behind (finally).

Haven't you heard that "real men don't eat quiche"? ;)

Just call it "cheesy egg pie with Bacon" and it is more manly.

I'm with you on that one Kevin.:thumbsup2
