I just joined a week ago and my guide was very good at getting back to me while we were in the decision making process. Now that we have joined, he has not returned my call to answer a few of my questions. It's been 3 days and I'm just not sure what to do. I hate to be pushy but I feel like I at least deserve a call back. Has anyone else had this issue?

I would ask your questions here on this forum. The people that are in here tend to know more about DVC than most guides.....

Congratulations & Welcome Home.:welcome:

As for your questions, I agree with the previous posters...you can probably find more answers here than anywhere else.;) Your guide may be on vacation.

I think maybe you all can answer one of them...thanks! I have been waiting for the charge to be placed on my Disney Visa. I was under the impression it would happen the day that I gave him the info but there is still no charge. Is this something that will not happen until I have signed and returned the papers? I was also asking him how long until I should receive the papers? He previously said it would be around Thursday and we still haven't received anything. As you can see, none of these are major earth shattering issues but I thought he would at least call me back.

What are you trying to put on your Disney Card? The deposit should hit the card right away but the down payment or full balance won't hit your card until the signed papers are returned. It took us about 8 days to get our Fed Ex package with the paperwork. As of now you probably have $500 deposit with a balance due upon receipt of the paperwork.

We used our Disney Visa for the entire thing. He never mentioned a deposit and there has been nothing charged to our card at all. I guess I expected to see some sort of charge by now.

Welcome Home! Hope you enjoy your DVC as much as we enjoy ours...

WHile my guide is flat-out wonderful and always returns calls and/or responds to email, the rest of what you described happened to me, too...

THey're so backed up what w/the end of the F&F promo and the opening of the new AKV, there's a lag...and there was a lag when I first bought in (last June) when none of those things was happening...

Not to worry: you get all the incentives and bennies they promised you if the delay is on their end.

As I recall, it took at least a week for the charge to go through when I bought in June--and at that time there was a glitch...the credit card I used wanted "extra" authorization to authorize the whole payment, even though it was well under my credit limit...so my guide just put it through as two separate transactions, a week apart...(the "hoops" my credit card company wanted Disney to jump through were more trouble than splitting the transaction)...anyway, bottom line is it took a week for the first $500 to show up on my credit card, and almost two full weeks before the full charge showed up (I started checking daily cuz I was worried about losing my incentives which were good for only 3 days...turns out I need not have worried)...

So, hope this makes you feel better about your question/transaction...

As for your call being returned: it's possible your guide took some time off (many of them have been working nonstop for the past month or 6 weeks)...it's also possible the message went astray...if you've only called once, you might consider calling again, just in case the message went astray...especially since your guide has been good about returning calls so far...but you're certainly right to expect a timely call back...

Again, welcome home and sure hope you find your DVC m'ship as magical as we find ours!

I'm sorry to hear your guide has not returned your calls, but it is possible he/she is on the Disney Cruise and is unable to get back to you (our guide is frequently on the Cruise).

as was stated earlier he/she is probaly on vacation or is working on the disney cruise. they take 2 guides everytime for the magic and the wonder and let them work on there to sell dvc. im sure your guide has a reason for not calling you back. i know the guides probaly like it when dvc members call them because its probaly for more points. i know the 2 times i called my guide i got an answering machine and it said im in the office today. both times she called me back in the hour.

We have been a member for two years now and have never heard from our advisor after we told her we bought resale. I guess she was peeved that she lost the commision...smjj

In truth, there's really no reason to hear from your guide once the transaction is completed. We haven't heard from our "new" guide for years and years, and he's been one of the most recommended here on the DIS.

He is our second guide, our original guide is still with the company, and if we ever buy more points, I'll switch back to him. Nothing specific, I was just more comfortable withour original guide. We were switched to the current guide when we did an add-on on person, we walked in without an appointment (at the original Sales Office at OKW) and our original guide was out of the office that day. We couldn't wait, as it was a last minute decision and we had a plane to catch. We should have called and made an appointment earlier in the trip. The "new" guide handled that transaction, and they switched us in the computer system.

We used our Visa for the whole thing too, and it showed up on my bill BEFORE the papers came from Disney!

Yeah, I figured as much. But we thought at least a e-mail after we bought stating any questions for concerns just call or with SSR and now the new VAK, a e-mail about an addon would not be that much to ask..smjj

Thank you all for your great advice. I think I will call him again tomorrow and see if there is a quicker response. His voicemail does not state that he is out of the office or on DCL. I just checked my Visa again and there is nothing yet either. I think I am just over anxious. I have been wanting to join for years and now that we finally made the decision, I feel like I'm just waiting and waiting!
