I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I have been lurking on this board for while. I am a single mom and I LOVE Disney. I am planning a trip by myself without the kids for this summer. I am so excited. I live in Tampa so I have been to Disney many times but never by myself. I could use some tips :) I cant wait. Well I hope you all had a great weekend.

Welcome to the DIS! When I get a day by myself in the parks, I do exactly as I please! Eat dessert first, ride Buzz Lightyear six times to see if I can improve my score, or just sit and watch the world go by. I love it. Have a great time!

Hiya!@!! I am a single mom too, and I scheduled my first solo trip for May. I can't wait to do what I want. I want to experience adult things, like margaritas in Mexico, and get all smashed in to see parades and fireworks and be able to lose myself in them, instead of being worried about losing children during them! LOL It is going to be great! Welcome to the DIS!!!

Disney Fanatic25, enjoy your time in Disney!
I love trip reports, so I encourage you to post your "reviews".
BTW, I envy your relatively short trip to get to WDW! (I'm in Illinois.)

Margeritas in MExico? You mean you can't do that with kids? LOL !!!

LOL Oh, you can, it just is not as much fun! :goodvibes Darn kids wanting you do stuff for them all the time... like feeding them, etc... geeesh, kids are just so needy!

Whats up? I live in Tampa and have been to disney hundreds of times. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

I became a single mom right before my son started kindergarten, and took my first solo trip when he was in kindergarten. I was a little nervous, but it was great - I was hooked!! As he grew up (he's 21 now) we did many trips together, but after 4th grade I stopped taking him out of school and went solo during those months. Now he's grown, and I'm in a long-term relationship and since his work takes him away from April to Sept each year, I still get to enjoy solo trips during that time. I love our trips as a couple, and when my son & girlfriend join me/us....but I really really love the solo trips!

The best part about going solo is doing exactly what I want, when I want, without regard for what anyone else wants or doesn't want. My boyfriend hates to walk....but I love wandering aimlessly. So, on the solo trips I zig zag back & forth across a park at my whim, while with him we tend to tour more efficiently. I'm happy to graze/snack, so I do that on a solo tip, and on our trips I suck it up and eat more meals in restaurants. I'm lucky to have the best of both worlds!

My advice - go for it, and do whatever the heck you feel like doing!
