We are going to WDW for the first time, my husband and two children, ages 9 and 5. I have set out some touring plans for us. Although I promised myself not to get too caught up in the whole thing and just "go with the flow", I am finding myself more and more anxious about the whole thing.

Quick question for all of you who are "in the know":

If we are planning to do Kali River Rapids in the mid-morning, will we get so soaked that I should bring a complete change of clothes (and yes - I have already purchased the apparently requisite ponchos)?

If so, is there a place in front of the actual loading of the ride for em to store the stuff, ie, leave my backpack?

Thanks so much.

This is one of our favorite rides.

That is a tough question to answer. It really seems to depend on where you are sitting. We have gone on it and have barely gotten wet and other times we have been soaked.

There is a place in the center of your riding unit(? not sure what they are called) that opens up for you to put your back pack in which is covered. Just to be sure we usually put our valuables (wallet, camera, etc.,) in a ziploc bag.

We do a lot of the water rides and haven't had a problem with our back pack getting wet.

Have Fun!

We just pack our belongings in the center of the ride unit and prepare to get wet...lol!!! We have been on many times and not gotten but a drop or 2, other times, absolutely drenched!! A couple of years ago when we were there in December, it was really slow and they let us ride 5 or 6 times in a row without getting off (just dh & I w/ a group of strangers), we all stayed on, dh & I were laughing at the strangers as they kept getting soaked. WELL, we shouldn't laughed or should've gotten off, cause the last ride through for us, we were SOAKED, and that is an understatement to say the least!!!

As stated before it totally depends on luck and where you are in the raft. We rode once and I got drenched to my shorts, however my daughter was sitting right next to me and was relatively dry.

A 4 1/2 year old should be fine. It's not really scary. I don't know what the height restriction is though. Like everyone has said, a couple of people get drenched...most people don't get wet enough to cool you off. It's the luck of the spin of the car.

I rode this once and got so wet I had to go back to the resort to change my underthings. Never again!

BTW...I think this ride is way too short. There are better raft rides in most amusement parks.

The first time I went on this ride we got so wet I have to go to the ladies room and ring out my cloths, my sister bought new shorts there at AK. The next time we went we brought our ponchos...It made a big difference, we bring our ponchos every time we go now.
We bring them to ever park, you never know when it might rain, I have also worn them on Splash mountain, you get get pretty wet on that one too.
