Just HOW scary is Sci-Fi?

I have this booked and really thought my kids would like it, but then saw someone mention the clips being scary.

My kids are boys ages 4, 6 and 8. They don't watch a ton of movies, but have never been afraid of anything in particular that they have watched. Is Sci-Fi too scary for these ages? I know it can be subjective, but generally speaking, would you take a 4 year old there?

It's not scary at all in my opinion! It's clips from very old B movies which look totally fake (Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, The Blob, etc...). They're more funny and tacky than anything!

I wouldn't worry about taking a 4 year old. It is a bit dark, though. It's my DD's favorite place since she was little!

(been going since i was your children's ages).
they are cheesy sci-fi trailers from the 50's/60's.
there's also some neat invention clips like the car that drives itself using magnetic strips.

my favorite part has always been when they sing about the blob.
a couple years ago i actually saw the blob on TCM and it was hilariously fake.

Agree with PP - It shows clips of the cheesey 50's/60's sci-fi movies that you can tell are fake

Agreeing with everyone else. The atmosphere of the old cars and drive in style dinning makes it fun place to eat for the family. The video in the background isn't remotely scary for kids. It's more hokey and laughable

They will probably enjoy it. You might have to keep reminding them to eat their food because they'll be watching the movie screen.

Ditto!! The clips are anything but scary; more funny and cheesy. I think your kiddos will love it!

My kids didn't mind them, but there was just one "creature" that freaked out my DD just a bit. It is really fake looking compared to today's CGI stuff, but it is sorta like a melted face on a guy. Truthfully, my kids couldn't believe that I actually went to the drive-in as a kid - they thought that was hysterical! (Oh, and order yourself one of the adult Oreo Cookie shakes!).

I just asked DS if he had any requests for our trip in January, and he said he wanted to go to Sci-Fi! He started out going to Disney at your youngest one's age and is now going into his senior year of college. Still loving WDW!!!!!

My son has never found it scary, but I have heard of some people say their kids were frightened. The good thing is, anything up on the screen that could be considered frightening (like the "creature" mentioned above), is not on the screen for very long at all, so if a little distraction to a little one looking a bit uneasy and you'll be through it no problem.

Sci-Fi is one of the quietest and coolest spots in all of WDW, we love it. For that alone, it's worth it!

My 5 year old didn't think it was scary. He thought it was silly!! But then he's seen all pirates of the caribbean movies, nightmare before xmas and all the star wars. You can watch a video of it on youtube if you're unsure - it's all 1950s/1960s black and white - blob and alien/robots. Youtube has the whole video of it.

It's not scary at all! Super old "thriller" movies is how we looked at it, almost comical. I think your boys would find it interesting, especially if you guys get involved with the movies.

My DS didn't like the clips. He said they made him lose his appetite. He was also disappointed that the cars were stationary and didn't actually move!

Agree w PP --- more funny than scary --- our fave is "the cat that hated people" !'

Miss the picnic burger, but other good options and the specialty (seasonal) shake is always great !!

Love this place - ambiance is spot on, food is pretty decent, and setting is unique!

We went when ds was 10 and dd was not quite 3, they both thought it was cool. I think dd was more concerned with looking at the cool cars than anything. Food was great, service was great, really unique theme. It was a little dark but I liked it!

Woody Woodpecker in Outer Space.

The promo for The Blob.

Absolutely not scary.
