I am thinking PACKED.....but what if a flight got in around noon-2pm, and we went in around 3-4pm - would we even get in, or are they usually at capacity?
What about Jan 1/2nd. We are leaving on a cruise on the 3rd and thought it could be fun to spend New Years at disneyland or dca.

From what I understand from last years posts, it hits capacity noon or before. I just can't see it myself.....but that's just me

I have been the last two years and it has been INSANE!!!!!!!!! Last year DL did have its gate closed at about noon before we arrived, and DCA was closed at about 4 or 6pm. When they are "closed" it means they will not sell tickets for that park, no park hoppers or AP blackout passes unless you had purchased it before they closed sales and had been into that park. We were lucky though because premium AP's still get in.

There were people everywhere!!!! We hit DL for just a bit but the lines were long and there was lots of people so we headed over to DCA, hit a few things, spent quite a bit of time checking out things we normally skip or haven't ever done for some reason and then went for one of the best dinners EVER!

Napa Rose has a formal dinner twice on NYE an early seating and one at 9pm that includes a New years toast. It was exceptional and in fact we were just talking tonight about going again this year if they hold a similar event.

The previous year we dined at the Vineyard Room for a earlier meal and did the countdown at DCA, where they had a stage set up with performers dancing and singing. Both parks also give out throughout the park hats and horns for NYE which was a lot of fun.

I would love to go to DL for the countdown one year but the Napa Rose and the crowds are calling me a different way

If you don't arrive until 3 or 4, chances are both gates will be closed - at capacity, and you won't get in either park. I'd plan for the worst and then feel really lucky if you do get in one or the other.

As far as the 1st and 2nd, usually the 1st is quiet in the AM and then picks up pretty good in the afternoon. The 2nd usually sees a drastic slowdown - BUT this year the way the calendar falls the 2nd is on a Wednesday and local schools are out that whole week, so maybe not as slow as it has been the past couple of years.

Thanks - I think we are going to skip it this time around....just go on the cruise. I was thinking it would be fun, but would have to fly in on the 31st.
