We docked at CC, however it rained all day and was very cold, my family did get off right away and there was a small break in the rain for about 20 minutes so at least I got a few cute pictures before the sky opened up. We stayed all day, and many braved walking around in free ponchos, but we were back on the boat by 11:00 and had a day at "sea". Not a great way to end the cruise, but I am thankful for the few minutes we did get, I know that many others get much less. I intend to post a trip report tomorrow, we had awful traffic back to Atlanta and had to take oldest DD to Kaiser on the way home for swimmers ear so after 13 hours we are finally home from our should be 8 hour drive! Will be happy to answer any questions if you would like to post them, however will most likely be tomorrow before I reply.

How was the overall weather? Sorry about CC weather...

Did you book another cruise?

Did you do any axcursions?

How was the sea, any motion sickness?

I was on the same cruise. Castaway Cay was a disappointment due ot the rain. All excursions that day were canceled. We got off too, but didn't stay very long. We did eat lunch on the island, but because of the rain and wind it was not very enjoyable. To their credit, the Disney staff had extra activities on board and came up very quickly with a revised schedule.

There were a lot of people in line at the laundromat to use the dryer to dry their clothes. If you were not there right when your dryer cycle was up you would come back to find your clothes on the table. My cycle had not even ended, but I guess someone felt the clothes were dry enough and they took out clothes out and put them on the table. They must have felt a little remorse, because they did fold them.

The weather for the rest of the cruise was great! We did not do any excursions, but did things on our own. In St. Maarten we did some shopping, took a taxi and visted the French side, St. Martin and then went to the beach. In St. Thomas we rode the sky tram, also did some shopping and then went to Megan's Bay beach. Unfortunately, in St. Thomas we did not dock at the dock in town and had to take a taxi to get to the town.

We also drove to Atlanta. The drive was awful for us too. There was construction on I-75 around Valdosta that took us hours to get through. The traffic was backed up for many miles. When we finally got to the end we had found they had closed the Interstate to one lane. What should have been an 8 1/2 hour drive took us about 11 1/2 hours.

As far as the sea, it did get a little rough occasionally. Nobody in our party got seasick though. I heard some people did report feeling sick on their first night, but they seemed to have recovered from it the next day.

Overall, the cruise experience was great. Castaway Cay was a big disappointment because of the weather, but that was something that was out of everybody's control.

We too did not do any excursions, we had a 4 year old so we did very short beach days and enjoyed the boat in the afternoon. The weather other than CC was great, the seas were Slight to rough (8-12ft), however they were slight to moderate 90% of the time. DH felt very groggy the first two days, however none of us felt sick. It was very depressing to look out of the windows all day keeping your fingers crossed. At about 3:00 I finally gave up, until then I just kept wishing for just 3 hours, just two hours, just one hour, etc. Very sad. We did not rebook, however we did decide that it was too much work with our kids being 7 and 4 (the 4 year old is very immature for her age) and that 7 days is too long. I know others would disagree, but we hit a wall Thursday morning and we had had enough fun and just wanted to be home. Of course we still had a good time those days, just tired and wanted the comfort of home. Missing CC really made that worse...Still a good time to be had and the kids of course wanted to stay forever..

The traffic in Atlanta was horrible due to a ten car pileup that closed I75 for four hours. A bus rear ended a car and that caused a chain reaction. It was a clear and sunny day, I75 doesn't have a lot of twists and turns and it always boggles my mind at the amount of accidents in this area. Maybe it's the speed, maybe it's just people not being used to the area, maybe it's being distracted by a cell phone conversation (I think it's manditory in Atlanta to have to be on a cell phone while driving). But that's why the traffic was horrible.

I am sorry your weather at CC was not the best..Sounds like you tried to keep a great attitude anyway!! Not easy, know from experience...

Sorry your cruise was not easier with your kids...Mine were the same ages, and it went 0k...It is not for everyone, glad you are home safe and sound... :goodvibes
