Just Hired As A CM, A Few Questions

Hi all! First and foremost, I truly apologize if my upcoming questions have been answered before. I have looked around the web as much as possible before posting. I was just hired as a CM, my recruiter said Downtown Disney stores. I have a few questions and if anyone could help me out, that would be awesome. Thanks so much! I'll just list my questions and make it super easy to read.

1. My recruiter said Downtown Disney stores can be more than World of Disney. What other stores might I possibly be working in?

2. The recruiter said Disneyland requires full availability during peak time. Can someone clarify this for me? I am under the impression that it means they can schedule you any day, any time. But does your scheduler even ask you what days you can work, at all? Or once you are in, are you at the mercy of the scheduler?

3. I was hired as Seasonal CT, which is fine because I only want to work about 20 hours a week. About how many hours does a CT work vs. a CR? I am a little nervous because I have heard so much about scheduling dramas and such.

4. Lastly, is it there anyone that works in Downtown Disney stores who can give me some advice or tell me about what I might be doing?

Thanks for your responses and any help you can offer!

Sounds fun! :wizard:

Did you ask your recruiter any of these questions? They would be the best authority on the subject! Maybe call back and ask?

Congratulations!

Only a VERY FEW CM's post here, so your questions may be missed. I would go to the CM private discussion section -

Go to the main page for the DISboards, then scroll down, it is the second to the last section. You will have to email the administrator with information so you can see the "hidden to the public" section. Although it is mostly Walt Disney World, Florida, people, they probably can answer your questions or refer you to someone who can answer them!

The above suggestion regarding calling the recruiter seems like a good idea, as well.

Good luck to you - we all look forward to seeing you, I am sure!

Congratulations!!!!!
Like the previous poster said, there is a private section on this forum for CMs, they will probably be much more helpful over there!
http://www.disboards.com and scroll all the way down and you will see the CM section.
Good luck! :)

1. Off the top of my head, other Disney-operated shops in the Downtown Disney District are:
  • Marceline's Confectionary
  • D Street
  • Disney's Pin Traders
  • Disney Vault 28
  • Studio Disney 365
  • World of Disney

2. Disneyland Resort Casual Temporary Cast Members are only scheduled during peak attendance periods (Summer, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). During these periods, CT Cast Memebrs must provide full availability for any and all shifts, as determined by the company's labour needs.

3. As mentioned above, you will only be scheduled to work during peak attendance periods. The number of hours you may be scheduled to work will vary according to the company's labour needs. It should be noted however, that Disneyland Resort Store Operations is a unionised workplace. As such, Full Time and Casual Regular Cast Members have priority in scheduling over Casual Temporary Cast Members.

Thanks so much for your nice responses! I am excited and looking forward to becoming a CM! Also, thank you for explaining the CT vs. CR situation. I will re-post this thread in the proper CM area. Have a great day, all!!!

u should probably go CR if u want 20 hours a week working fri sat sun...

Welcome to the DIS, MissTrixie. I know CMs do read here & post, so you might get some PMs.

Write to admin@wdwinfo.com for access to the Cast Member board. I think WebmasterDoc is the one who gives access. :flower:

They have a sheet for you to fill out for peak weeks with what hours you are available. They do require full availability of some of those. So any of the Disney owned stores in DTD. I would personally hope to not get Marcelines---lol just because I'd gain 20 lbs. You can also request days or specific hours online in the scheduling system.
