When my DH does that I chase after him screaming ,"That's Disney money!!!"

I just love getting that last minute, extra padding to our vacation budget! For our last trip we had saved over $700 in our upside down water cooler bottle.

I just read "The Pickle Jar"- made me tear up too.

Darn! Now I feel guilty that we save our coins for WDW!

I only put quarters and dimes in the big jar that I save change in and I have a smaller container for nickels and pennies. When I used to put everything in the one big jar I would only have about $200.00 when it was full. The last time I cashed it in with only the quarters and dimes, I had $350.00. It takes a little longer to fill but the payoff is a lot more!

My dad has been doing this for my nieces and we have joined him in his "Pickle Jar" for their college money.

We put all the money from our bottle returns in it...Up till now, my nieces have over $6000 dollars and they are just 4 and 7...

He was thinking of building them each a house and rent it out and once they turn 25, they would have a paid house for each of them...My Dad is the greatest...::yes::

Funny I rolled my change from my jar today and we saved $150.00 in change.

We started saving again in January '04, then we remembered what we heard at a marriage encounter...instead of just silver, contribute a dollar for everytime...well, you know!
Since many people go to WDW for romantic get-a-ways, I hope this post doesn't offend anyone!:hyper:

I think I will have to have hubby deposit $1.00 in ours whenever her gets in the mood :earseek:

I just started one for out trip next year. I love getting the kids involved and they pick up change around the house when the find it. I also washed a spaghetti jar and put in by the dryer for all of the change that ends up there.

we also have a change jar...an empty cheese puff jar LOL from walmart...pretty good size. we have helpers to fill ours....my sister and my dad also give us thier change when they are full( they both use coffee cups) so added with what we put in it, our "mickey money" jar will give us a nice amount also :)
on a side note, my MIL saw our jar and said that FIL always had one that size, and the one time she cashed it in at half full it was $400 - i hope we even get 200$ that would be such a nice addition :)
ps..reading this thread makes me want to take ours in to see how much is in it, but DH said dont or we will spend it

We save coins and 'extra' dollars (laundry, etc) in a big water cooler bottle. Before our trip to Hersheypark in July, we rolled some change and pulled out the bills, for a total of $140. for spending money for that day. Just rolled $65 in coins to help pay for our portion of a rental cabin in Maine, and now it will all be for Disney. Unfortunately, it is mostly pennies in there now! But I found $11 one day while doing laundry, I rolled the $10 inside the one and slipped it in the bottle, trying to forget there is 'real' cash in there.

DH and I did this early in our marriage as well, he would weld two coffee cans together with a slit in the top and deposit anywhere from $20-40 dollars a pay period. Have to take a can opener to the thing to open it and you can't even peak to see what progress you are making. There was always $100-$200 more than we estimated when we opened the cans before a trip.:Pinkbounc

Just counted my change that I saved in a coke bottle bank: grand total $455. That will help for the Christmas trip :earseek:

$73 for me today. This isn't really savings. This is the change I got out of my husband's pants when I did laundry. I put it in a small candy dish in the laundry room.
